2024-09-19 03:40:16 +0000 UTCI think teams draft more play makers because they're far more prominent than pocket passers who can stay in the pocket and make the reads that maybe only 7ish QBs in the league can handle. This is why drafting a QB is so hard, because knowing a QB can make those reads under pressure is practically impossible until you get them out there. It's also far more impacted by the system and the coaches than people are willing to admit.

2024-09-18 09:36:24 +0000 UTCwas on twitter today and someone was talking about how teams draft more for QBs that can make out of structure plays vs pocket passers, this game is why. in the playoffs, on money downs, teams are gonna run sicko shit like tampa 2 from double mug and your guy either has to be precognizant a la 12/18 or be able to extend the play to find winners/scramble rules. also i think the vikings played a great game with their green dogs. even on plays meant to take advantage of a green dog (Jennings in the red zone running the flat after chipping on the TD miss is a good example imo) their secondary kept everything in front of them and didn’t give time for the 9ers’ guys to outrun (or be outhrown) by the coverage
