What kind of communication goes on between the QB coach and the offensive coordinator? They are both watching tape and I’d imagine, like you, the QB coach might be looking at the film and seeing guys are being utilized in unusual ways. Would a qb coach say something to the o coordinator about that ?

The NFL blocked the video???? I can’t watch the Caleb Williams breakdown? What’s the difference in any other video?

JTO, love to hear your opinion on the Herbert trade. It seemed to me that Swift is not strong on blitz pick up. Herbert seemed like a more complete back. Did the Bears just make another personnel mistake?

Jeffrey Stoll

I’m sure DJ has to be frustrated with the way he is being used as well as dealing with a rookie QBs mistakes. Still no excuse for going half-ass. Biggest concern for me is the play calling and utilization of the talent. This is a coaching and accountability problem (first and foremost). Caleb can be better but he is not the main issue here.

Joe Schusler

Maybe 10% lol

Derrick

DJ had like 30% effort, pathetic! We haven’t even started divisional play in the NFC north. We still have to see Green Bay, Detroit, & Minnesota twice each. Plus at the 49ers. 🤦🏾‍♂️ This entire staff should be getting fired come black Monday. What are your thoughts?

Brandon Harris

Hey JT, I love these vids and your breakdown of different offenses. This was a hard watch and it looks like that bears coaching staff is done. Just curious, if the new coach hypothetically asked you to be the qb coach or offensive coordinator for the bears would you take the job?

Fernando

Basically, the one thing Caleb is not doing consistently well is taking the dump off more often; he is making his own life MUCH harder than it needs to be. However EVERYONE else is GUILTY on this offense. Waldron = poor play calling, play design and poor use of personnel. Receivers playing lackadaisically and not running crisp routes/getting separation. O-Line too many pre-snap penalties. Coaches are pathetic - there is NO discipline and accountability. Honestly, Keenan is pathetic and I wish we had traded him....I would fire Flus and Waldron tonight however the Bears being Bears, it won't happen...

ALPESH PATEL

Hey JT. Thanks for the honest analysis. Dj stepping into the dangerous territory of becoming “your boy” and it’s fkin rough.

It’s hard to watch this and think that our offense is better than last year, because it looks worse currently, even after all the “upgrades”. Also, I was a huge DJ fan when he got traded, but how long do you let his attitude and effort let this team down before you cut your losses and go? That’s our main guy, we need him to be helping Caleb, not giving up on plays..MULTIPLE PLAYS

Hunter Mantor

0% effort at the end of the route there. What a clusterfuck of a team, man.

Suyash Bhagwat

25% - more effort may have been exerted if he walked to the bench mid play again

And the only change we'll get is trading Kahlil Herbert for a 7th LOL

Matt

Could you do Jayden? He got a QBR of like 96 but it doesn’t seem like he did anything too spectacular. Lamar had a QBR of 97 and seemed to “dominate” what am I missing? Jayden’s QbR for the bengals game was only 94 also.

Dj never was like this last year lol.

Final comment and I'm very curious about your answer to this: I'm a Panthers fan. I also watched many of your Bears videos last season, which was DJ Moore's first season there. That was Justin Fields; now it's Caleb Williams. In both seasons, I feel like we've seen the same level of...negative demeanor, for lack of a better term. We've also seen how much talent he has when schemed properly. Do you feel like Moore is someone you want to pair with a young/rookie QB? Let's be clear: The Bryce Young trade was horrible. But personally, when I see what Moore has been pulling in Chicago these past two seasons, I can't help but think Carolina was wise to move off of him so that he didn't potentially influence Bryce, regardless of what they got back.

Anthony Skatz

This may be the most concerning Caleb game tape I've seen yet from you. It looks like he's not seeing anything, and the pass protection seemed pretty good compared to last week. Hell, Bryce Young showed more anticipation in last week's game than this Caleb tape.

25% from #2 on that play. DJ seems like a really good dude, don't know what is going on in some of these plays. #73 is like the 5th tackle. #58 is the normal RT but sprained his ACL earlier in the game.

This suck matt eberflus is likely getting canned. Now Caleb has to learn a whole new offensive and build new relationships with the new OC and HC. If I’m Ryan Poles give Ben Johnson the bag, maybe? But wasn’t people saying he interview badly? Who is available?!

I said the same thing about JF1, and initially advocated for keeping him, trading back and building O line talent. The tape does not agree that Caleb is a horrible decision maker, has horrible situational awareness, etc. the tape shows that Caleb is horribly inconsistent, and I choose to believe that that’s heavily influenced by his environment. Did I expect the #1 overall pick to overcome this BS? Yes. Am I disappointed that Caleb is playing the way he is? Yes. But am I also disappointed that we’re calling low percentage throws, we’re allowing 46% pressure rates to the cardinals D line, we can’t accurately ID a single run block, our star-studded WRs can’t separate? Yes. I didn’t expect the situation to be such shit, and the situation is not shit BECAUSE of Caleb. Could he play better and overcome it? Yeah. But it’s sucks that the litmus test is “overcome a bad situation please”. Can we, as bears fans, just once create a good situation for a rookie qb in his 8th start?

Thought he might say he cramped up and didn’t want to pull something. I’m not plugged into Bears world so didn’t know if they were talking about this. It’s a bad look for sure.

Robert Diny

For sure, just want to check if they were making any excuses for it. Not wanting to fight on extended plays is not a good match for someone who plays like Caleb.

Robert Diny

Pat

I dont think the offense is set up for failure, its failing because Caleb is a horrible decision maker, has horrible situational awareness, horrible downfield accuracy and is horrible at making quick decisions from the pocket. Who knows how different the offense would look with even a serviceable QB, let alone a good one.

Start Tyson Bagent

of course not. if hes not getting the ball much he always gives up on extended plays like that.

Start Tyson Bagent

50 yd TD with 10 seconds left in the half cannot happen

Jon

It's funny seeing this excuse for Williams when no one was willing to do the same for Fields. But you should expect your #1 overall pick to make a routine throw that even the bottom half of the QBs in the league are expected to make. This isn't to say the Bears haven't laughably mishandled their QB situation and likely cost good QBs an opportunity to perform over the past 15 years, but when most of the fanbase was mocking Fields as he left town and touted about how the Bears were the best situation for any rookie QB to step into (some even going so far to suggest best situation ever...), you're going to be ridiculed making this excuse for Williams.

Highest paid guy on the team taking himself to the bench. 🤢

Danny Tobin

The bears are failing him. The commanders are a great example of what you’re supposed to do with a rookie QB

BillyK69

Dude, it’s just the truth. Things don’t need to be either/or. They can be both/and. This offense is set up for failure, everyone is playing badly, so it’s not surprising that Caleb isn’t on point. That’s all I’m saying. Also I think you’d have a bit more credibility if your name wasn’t “start Tyson bagent”. That said, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Tyson out there! Something needs to change.

Jack Belcaster

It would’ve been malpractice to leave Caleb out down 20 under normal circumstances. But that was our FOURTH and FIFTH string tackles in the game. Fucking insane

Jack Belcaster

25% on that DJ Moore route. It’s gotten to a point where it’s just pathetic. Ashamed that I bought his jersey last year🤦‍♂️

Mike

20% effort DJ Moore. This team clearly quit on the coaches this week

Jack Belcaster

Need that jd5 broski Much love

Mauro Pellegrino

BS. Same ole excuses everyone was giving Justin. Caleb is just playing horrendously. If anything the team is quitting on him which is why everything around him looks like its going to shit also. Guarantee if Bagent comes in, everything miraculously starts looking smooth, he isn't taking these sacks, the line looks more than serviceable and the offense consistently moves the ball.

Start Tyson Bagent

Can any bears fans confirm if DJ was hurt on that play or if they said anything about it?

Robert Diny

Commenting after just the first half because the second half goes to shit… JT you’re saying Caleb is playing pretty bad football, which is true. BUT he’s also fighting a constant uphill battle. No answers on one play, pass pro taking an L on another, receiver dropping the ball on another, phantom false starts to kill a drive, receivers quitting on scramble drill, first down run in 13 personnel going for -3 yards. So when a play does work and he’s operating a hitch late, can we blame him? I mean, of course we can, and I know I’m making an excuse. But when everything around him is WRONG 80% of the time, I have a hard time giving him too much shit for not executing well on the 20% of plays that function properly. These plays don’t happen as individual snapshots, it all flows together. This offensive staff is atrocious and they’re letting down another rookie QB. It’s embarassing.

Jack Belcaster

JTO’s sighs of disappointment whenever he’s about to dig into Moore is hilarious

Carlo Turro

Hello darkness my old friend….

Edward Bills

Hey JT, thanks for another awesome breakdown! I had a question on the scramble completion in the 1Q (12:28 play clock, 8:34 video timestamp). Caleb misses throwing the hot route but it seems like his eyes go initially to the left when the ball is snapped. It’s almost like he’s late seeing the unblocked defender coming from the right, and that’s why he doesn’t hit the hot route. Why would the first read be away from the potential unblocked pressure? Is that a scheme problem or Caleb reading the defense wrong?

Brock Workman

Tried to enjoy…
