VCF Southeast was a blast!! This was my first VCF event. There were many amazing systems, but the absolute highlight of the weekend was getting to meet Adrian Black and the members of the Atlanta Historical Computing Society! Getting to hang out with Adrian, Dan, Jamie, Earl, Bill and several other members all weekend was an indescribable experience. I'm so grateful for how friendly and welcoming this community is! I was also lucky enough to meet 11 viewers of the channel! Getting recognized is completely new to me lol. It was so cool getting to chat with so many people who have the same interests! I also couldn't resist the consignment section. Believe me I tried! Picked up a couple of MFM Seagate hard drives: an ST-225 and an ST-124 both still in their original packaging. I also picked up three systems: an IBM Aptiva, a Gateway 2000 tower and a funky Commodore-branded tower (the manufacturer of which was apparently sued into oblivion for using the Commodore name). Also grabbed a Leading Edge DR-1240 monitor which I believe has an amber phosphor CRT. In my defense, I held out until late Sunday before giving in and buying those lol. I can hardly wait to do some CRT repair! However, the best item by far was given to me by Adrian: A Pentium Overdrive complete with its original documentation and software!! It's the perfect upgrade for my 486 PS/1. Thank you so much Adrian!
From Atlanta I went off to San Francisco for two weeks. I should be able to hit VCF West in San Jose this weekend as long as there is no snafu with the rental car. Sadly, this means I won't have a new video for this week. I will have one covering the VCF events next week though. Please wish me luck in resisting the consignment area of VCF West because everything I buy is going to have to be shipped back home. I doubt TSA would be too thrilled about a bunch of random computer parts in my luggage!
Thank you all so much!
