I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! I certainly did. Just want to check in and confirm that I'm still alive. Sure am! There's just been a tremendous amount of things demanding my attention lately, leaving little time for video work. We're not even two weeks into the new year and I feel like it's been two months... First, I had to put on my old auto mechanic hat and fix my vehicle. Broken valve spring... Got it running, all good. Super lucky the valve didn't drop! Then the husband's 1 year-old iPhone decides to die completely for no reason at all (VDD_MAIN dead short to ground). Ordinarily this would just be an AppleCare swap, but it contains some precious data for which he has no backup... I'm still wrestling with that, haven't worked on an iPhone motherboard since the iPhone 5. These things now have two separate boards that are BGA-soldered together! The short seems to be in-between the two. I have to split them, clear the short and hope it runs long enough to do a backup. That 2TB iCloud plan is looking mighty attractive now... Finally, just this week our area was hit with multiple tornadoes thanks to that huge winter storm... Through some miracle, my property did not receive any damage despite a few houses just down the road losing their roofs. However, some of my friends were badly affected so I've been helping them out with removing trees, tarping roofs, setting up hotspots and generators, debris cleanup. 2024 has become real interesting, real fast...

I have the next video about 70% done. Was hoping it would be finished by this weekend, but that was before all this tornado business. I'm hoping for a quiet weekend to finish it up so I can get back to weekly uploads.
