2024-02-03 16:39:56 +0000 UTCMid 1990s OCR software was terrible. We had Omnipage Pro at my high school and it even had trouble with typed 12 point text double spaced. It relied on a spell check to fix lots of issues, but there was still a dozen or so manual corrections per page to do. Much quicker than typing it in though yourself, so that's what they had to compete against I guess. I think the pro version was $600-800.
