Pre-release: The IBM PC XT (5160)

The most-recent eWaste haul has graced my bench with a machine I've been hunting for years: The IBM 5160. These machines were super important for me, as I found them most-fascinating as a kid. Could possibly be the whole reason I went into the tech industry (and boy am I grateful for that). We did also have a 5150, but I much preferred the XT because I was obsessed with hard drives.
It took ordering two hard drive controllers, a keyboard adapter and some EEPROMs to get this together. That's all I'll say because, spoilers.

2024-05-21 13:31:12 +0000 UTCI had to chuckle when you bemoaned your adult sized fingers. While I don't have too many retro systems, I can assure you that the modern systems aren't any better. Being quite a bit older than you, all I can say is wait until you have to factor in arthritis into your work!
