let's watch rogers the musical for the first time!

my conspiracy theory is that howard is missing because it's funded by stark industries & tony, who had obvs been working on this part-time while he was still kickin', just ~didn't want to include his dad~ (& then someone must've found his draft in a drawer after the events of endgame & finished it using knowledge from the surviving avengers - and scott lang's podcast, of course) (or maybe he was included in the 'real' one in-universe, but not in this 30 minute summary? who knows, lol)

~~~
Our first patreon post, and we're starting with Rogers the Musical! Let's be honest, there was no better or more fitting way to do this 😅
The vibes & performances were A+; the rest of it... well, I had fun? 😂 (let's just say, I fully understand Clint's reaction during Hawkeye now 💀)
If you haven't seen it yet, flashback to when I drafted my own version of the musical - although, I'm sure the official version's songs are infinitely peppier and more fun than anything I could've come up with 💀 (that being said, bucky tap dancing would've been a ball for all involved, but that's fine 😂)
This month, I'll be editing loki, our flag means death, and hopefully some halloween-themed vids for the main channel, so obviously this'll have to be farther down the line, but watching this made me think we should watch the spider-man: turn off the dark musical at some point, if anyone's down? (I'm adding it to our list anyways, lol)
Also, thanks to LMG Vids for posting their experience watching Rogers the Musical in the park! Here's the link to their original video, if anyone wants to watch it in full without my commentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9gkrzvOJk4
And finally: WELCOME TO PATREON, guys! I'm excited you're here, and I'm excited to be watching these shows & movies with you! Here's to having a lot more fun together in the future 🥰
First, I love the campiness/cheesiness of the whole thing. And honestly, it's consistent with a lot of real-life musicals where, due to the limited runtime (more so this 30 minute one), things are a lot more impressionistic. As another commenter mentioned, it is an in-universe musical, and so exhibits the same kind of treatment. I do agree with you on your positives. The interpretations of the costumes are absolutely inspired (I would totally get that Cap Winter Soldier jacket!). The set designs as well (yes, in particular the comic book sequence in WWII). I love the energy that everyone brings. Narratively, one thing that I do love is the turn at the end of "Save the City". In all previous clips it ends very upbeat, but here it continues on through all the attacks and battles, and you see Cap wearing down, and you see the seeds of doubt. And what completely clinched it for me is "End of the Line" (ie the Steve duet): the performance of the two, as well as how it is really a song about Steve, his doubts, and finally how in a way it's his older self reassuring his younger self. As an older dude going through life's challenges it just hit me, and had me choking up. And I know, as written in the musical, the person at the end of the line is Peggy, but in my head, it's his future self. So yes, to me, the romance is the weakest part of the whole thing, and like many other musicals, romance is often over-emphasized. But yeah, I like it for what it is. I guess it helps to go in with the appropriate expectations. Also (sorry this got really long), I'm so glad you have found a safe space to be able to do these, Jess. I was really missing your reactions to Marvel shows.
i thought it was pretty obvious its an in universe musical and therefore in accurate no one was there to actually witness these events and its stark industry funded tony woudnt include the winter soldier and he would take any opportunity to make fury silly and of course he would emphasize steve and peggy's romance than he's and bucky's friendship so i enjoyed the campy nature of it all. but to be completely honest steve's not my fav character so i took it as an in universe parody
