Quick Update and Hi! new patrons

So, hi new patrons! Thank you for joining.

Secondly, wanted to mention a few quick updates, though most of you should have seen the update on FB.

- Second Expedition should be back from proofing by mid-late Sep. I'll have the final document up as soon as I can, so you guys can read.

- work on Broken Council has stalled. I've been sick (running fever, etc.) for the last week or so, and have had to deal with the editing. With the co-author project picking up steam again, I need to find to edit that too so, I'm stuck at around 25k words or so in 6 chapters.

- which reminds me. BC will have fat chapters at around 4-5k each, so we'll be releasing at 2 chapters a week once again

- there's another short that I wrote a while ago that I'm getting a cover for. You guys will get a chance to grab that soon(ish) when the cover is done.

- lastly, for the business side, I'm nearly done. I'd love recommendations or suggestions for example authors to play around with, so if you have an idea, I'd be happy to do that. I need to write another sample or two, and once that's done, the work will be compiled.

After which I'll switch to a mixture of craft & business and other random musings.

And that's it....

Feel free to ask questions as usual.

Ah, that's actually an interesting discussion. It's a little more complicated in the sense since it includes things like FB algorithims and how Amazon (and other stores) set-up pre-orders. For example, Apple & Kobo let you set-up pre-orders and EVERY book that is on pre-order counts to your first day rank. Amazon on the other hand doesn't. At the same time, with Amazon, if you set-up early, you can link your paperbacks, hardcovers, audiobooks, etc together, while also adding things like categories (and checking to ensure your cats are done right). If you publish on day of, if your cats aren't done well, you can find lower than normal sales. Lastly, if you have a promotional plan, you can plan to 'touch' people multiple times, so that you can remind people when a book comes out. Like: - cover reveal - preorder (or maybe Cover & pre-order) - release Each time, you can generate a little more awareness and if you figure it takes 2-3 times at least before people notice, it can actually be helpful. Nevermind the fact that FB for example doesn't always show what you've done.

Regarding random business stuff, I'm seeing a lot of first time (or second) authors announcing pre-orders for their book. Aside from being annoying (asking me to pay up front for a book I can't even sample), it always seems like a wasted opportunity in that A) they and their writing have zero traction with me, so I'm never going to buy a book I can't even sample, and B) even if I could, I would want to buy it then if I liked it. Getting me interested but then telling me I can't buy it just annoys me, and gets the book thrown on my wish list (maybe), where I'll come back to it later (maybe) if I bother to check my wish list.

trwong@mylifemytao.com is the best format. And that is so strange. Must be a bad mobile conversion on the theme.

Sure do you have an email I can send a screenshot to? It's just formats extremely narrowly on all my browsers on my phone, like less than half the width of the screen so it's only 3 words per line of text

Simple answer - Patreon has very loose rules on copyright for what is posted on the site. So loose that I don't want to put my IP on it for potential exploitation. With regard to the website, if you can screenshot or describe the issues, we can look at what the issue / design is and try to fix that.

Hi Ausin;

Is it possible to have chapters posted here on patreon? Unlocking and reading on the website is a massive pain as the website does not format correctly on mobile and the passcodes have to be manually typed.
