Business Post: October 2024 Update
Added 2024-09-25 18:00:06 +0000 UTCAlright, time for another big business post. I seem to be doing this every few months, but writing sadly isn't one of those particularly interesting jobs at times. You'll see what I mean in a moment.
The System Apocalypse
Next month is a BIG month of releases. Both our new co-authors have books coming out. The first is the finale of the System Apocalypse: Kismet trilogy in Fool's Last Dance. If you haven't started this series, you should - tricker main character, a big burly - and smart - friend and a series of humorous works in the System Apocalypse.
A somewhat darker take - and hopeful I like to think - is next in System Apocalypse: Liberty by Jason J. Willis and myself. This is the first book about a new hero, set after the first year of the apocalypse but hsowcasing a teacher who's just trying to get his bearings. It's incredibly well written and the audiobook narrator is amazing. Head of the Class launches in the middle of October.
For our other co-authors, Craig is working on book 4 at the moment, though he was a little delayed by working on a series of his own. And as mentioned, KT's hard at work on her own series. We're hoping to see her back, but no further updates at the time.
After that, I should note we have a short that will be releasing soon (like in a few months) once I get the edits back, and another short soon after that that I need to finish writing but it like 80% done. I just have to find some time to dedicate to writing it, but end of the year is the goal.
Lastly, once that's all done, I might just focus on getting something a little longer done. There's initial plans for a bigger anthology collecting all the shorts, so I will be putting that together sometime next year.
As for a return to full novels by me, it's unlikely anytime soon. Sorry, just got too many books on the go.
A Thousand Li
Book 11 releases in November 1 of 2024. If you want the book earlier, you'll want to swing by Starlit Publishing's website and pre-order the book there since we'll be releasing the work early. We also have the audiobook option there, and yes, it's the full and complete work AND you get a discount if you order both on our website.
I just got back book 12 too from the proofer, so I'm busy working my way through that and get that ready for release next year. Yeah, sorry it's going to be a bit of wait to get that done, but we've got to wait for Travis among other things for the release. If you want to read the (first draft) copy of the work, it's all out on Patreon now.
ATL Sequel...
Yeah, we're doing one. That's all I have to say for now, details are on the patreon, but other than the fact that it's more of an epic fantasy feel and features a larger cast of characters, that's all I have to say. It's my major poject at the moment though, and I expect it'll be huge (like 200k at least) so it's going to take up most of my time.
My little 4x series continues to release. We're up to 5 different volumes on Amazon in Kindle Unlimited, we have another 5 written. I just got back volume 10, so I have to edit 9 and 10 and then it'll go to Neil for recording. We're releasing everything once a month, so there's a bit of a delay.
In a short while, once I get the major edits done (see above); I will be returning to finish up volumes 11-end. I figure we should have around 2-4 more volumes, before I will bring the series to a close. I don't think we'll be keeping it running beyond the first arc unfortunately as there's not been enough interest. Don't worry - I'll get it to a decent conclusion before we stop the project.
Climbing the Ranks
Talking of projects that are coming out and moving along slowly, we have Climbing the Ranks 2 coming out at the end of November. That'll be our big release for the year for that series, though book 3 is already releasing on Starlit Publishing. Anyone who wants to read ahead can, as always, do so.
Current plans is to start writing Climbing the Ranks 4 in the next year. Since my son is bugging me for more books, I can guarantee you that this series isn't getting dropped anytime soon. I figure we have like... 9 books (with roughly one book a year release schedule). I know what the next major arc is (books 4-6 generally speaking), and then a rough idea of what I want to do for the last trilogy, though that might change once I get book 6 done. Still, as always, I have a orugh idea of the ending I want to do.
Hidden Dishes
Finishing up the last edits for the second draft on Thaumaturgic Tapas. After that, end of the month, it's meant to go to the editor, and then I'll get it to Dreamscape who need it months early to make sure our narrator can get to it in time. That's scheduled for release next year, though we're considering doing a Kickstarter for book 2 and 3 at the same time.
I have another 3-4 more books that I want to write in this series, at the pace of one a year. I'd love to do more, but this series just doesn't really want to do that (in my brain).
And that's all folks
All the works that we can talk about anyway. Some minor projects that I really, really want to do (Eternal Night, Power, Masks & Capes, etc.) but I need to get through my backlog of stuff that has started and need to be finished. It's not too bad, just got a lot of writing to finish in the above projects before I launch a new series.
I've been playing with a few ideas including an epic fantasy or a first person, isekai LitRPG. I actually have a few ideas that I've been playing with, so we'll see which one I get to.
Or, as mentioned, I might just finish up on some of these other series.
