Now they can provoke James to leave safety and try to save his family on necromancer’s terms/ground. Which may give them an edge for their “destroy all Vigil members” plan (especially if other Vigil members like Sam and Clara try to help James by following him into an obvious ambush).

The moment when Midas is appearing is flatout awesome 😯 I am a little hesitant with the "second novel has to bring something bigger and more evil that somehow did not make it into the first one but is SOOO much more dangerous" feeling. It seems as if there is already a good explanation en route, though (for why Midas appears just now and not earlier).
