Fulgrim: Green, Shiny Gem

This video shows you how to paint the green, shiny gem on the chest of Fulgrim. It talks about the reflections and some of the difficulties with the shape of the piece.

The following paints were used:

Games Workshop: Sotek Green, Moot Green

Vallejo: Black (only to correct mistakes)

P3: Morrow White

Fulgrim: Green, Shiny Gem

I do it on space marine shoulder pads after applying decals but i think, like you said, it dulls a little. Was curious going forwards as I’ve just finished an LOTR forgeworld diorama piece “Get off the Road”… and wasn’t particularly happy with the photographs. It all looked too satin, especially on the black Nazgul rider on a very black-brown horse

I used to varnish everything ultra matte, but I think it actually detracts from the quality of the paintwork. It does photograph better though as it doesn't shine in the photograph. Now I just leave everything with the natural paint finish unless it leaves a particularly unwanted finish.

Hi Richard, are you varnishing all of your display level pieces that you paint? Or leaving them a natural satin-ish finish from the paints?
