Watch Out for Fireballs 484: The Talos Principle (Premium)

Can a robot's heart beat like a man's? What makes us human? Probably puzzle solving. Robots can't solve puzzles. Prove me wrong, kids.

Gary's incomprehension about people wanting to make something that outlasts them and can be of use to a nebulous future keeps confusing me. For me at least the cats-in-the-cradleness element adds to rather than invalidating it.

I really enjoyed the funny and heartfelt rantiness on this episode. As a German speaker, Gary's pronounciation of Weltschmerz was totally fine. While listening to the episode, I also thought of another German 5€-word you probably like: Gesamtkunstwerk (literally: gesamt = the whole thing, kunstwerk = artwork). It means a piece of art that is congruent through all it systems or different artforms (music, visuals, narrative, mechanics, etc). I always describe Dark Souls 1 as a proper Gesamtkunstwerk, since all its pieces sing together.

Gary. Come on. You *know* some loser working for Twitter is going to stay behind to code grok to torture robots

This game has been a classic backlog rider for me for a decade due to the severe puzzle friction it imposed on me. Every time I felt like I was ready to get into it I'd be pulled back by All of That.
