I wasn't able to post anything last week, so I'm going to post 2 WIPs before this week ends!
Let's start with this sketch I colored, then planned to abandon for a couple of weeks, but decided to finish today.
I guess I can actually finish coloring something within a day when I'm not distracted??
Anyway, as this is for Tier 1, I guess you won't see the flat colors from the Tier 2 reward I posted. It only consists of flat colors, so you're not really missing out.
There's something about it that I wanted to explain. Since this is an experiment for shading, I want to focus on these 2 samples:
(For some reason, Patreon isn't letting me link my images from imgur. I don't know how to fix this, as the text editor can't be switched to HTML, so please refer to the attachments for this explanation.)
1. Hair
The base color I used for Ciel's hair here is a very light pastel blue. This is a strange coloring style for me, but like I said, it's experimental. I added her regular dark blue hair as a layer clip on top of the pastel blue. This means the highlight of her hair is actually on the base layer instead of the other way around. ^^;; It's an interesting way of shading.
2. Shading difference
The base color for Ciel's skin and her shirt is actually the same. But the shading hue I chose for them are what makes them look different.
For her skin, I chose something near between the magenta and red spectrum of the color wheel.
For her shirt, it's a shade of magenta near the purple spectrum of the color wheel.
The rest of the shading are all based around the magenta, red, and purple spectrum.
I have no reason for this experiment other than testing if I understand how colors work as an optical illusion. :p
That's really all, I guess?
Thanks for reading!
