Chapter 20 - New Life in God of War

"Idiot, wake up!" Hyperion said, putting power into his voice, which forced the elf to sober up and wake.

"Uhhh! Who dares to shout at me?" The dark elf king woke up confused and immediately became enraged upon realizing he was being kicked and yelled at.

His vision quickly cleared, and he realized that the person he was reprimanding was the new elven emperor.

He quickly stood up in shock, remembering his status, and knelt down.

"Hahaha, relax, I wasn't angry, just messing with you. Now let's go get the luminous idiot; I have things to do." Hyperion said with a smile.

A similar scene then occurred in the camp of the luminous elves. There was mockery in the dark elf king’s eyes as he looked at the luminous elf king, but also a bit of hidden shame as he remembered he had reacted the same way.

"I liked your performance." The dark elf king mocked.

"Knowing you, yours wasn’t much better." The luminous elf king retorted.

The two soon started mocking each other, but Hyperion interrupted.

"Hey hey, I didn’t wake you up to fight," Hyperion said.

The two elf kings calmed down, knelt on one knee with a hand on their chest, and said in unison:
"Your Majesty, what are your orders?"

"First, take me to see the Well of Souls!" Hyperion commanded.

The two kings were slightly surprised but obeyed.

They then mounted Nymeria, who had used her power to increase her size to fit more people, and she began running toward the center of power of the luminous elves—the Well of Souls.

Upon arriving at the entrance of the elven palace, near the Well of Souls, they found a massive gate blocking their way.

"Your Majesty, we usually don’t use these entrances, as we tend to fly over them. Besides, we were being suppressed by the dark elves with the hive substance before your arrival strengthened the Well of Souls and diverted the dark elves’ attention. Because of that, the entrances are malfunctioning," the luminous elf king explained. However, there was some anger in his eyes as he recalled being suppressed by the dark elves.

Hyperion noticed that the dark elf king was about to start an argument, so he quickly interrupted.

"Enough, you two. Don’t worry, Nymeria will be able to fly in a second," Hyperion said, surprising everyone, including his wives, as they had never seen Nymeria fly.

Hyperion then crouched down, placed his hand on Nymeria’s fur, and used gene manipulation on the giant wolf.

Soon, a pair of beautiful wings with white feathers matching Nymeria’s fur began to sprout from her back.

"Woooooofff," the wolf howled as she felt the new limbs, controlling them as if she had always had them.

She then flapped her wings a bit clumsily, preparing for her first flight.

Everyone was amazed by the wolf’s beautiful wings.

What they didn’t know was that Nymeria could already fly. After all, Hyperion hadn’t based her solely on Garm but also on Sköll and Hati, who chased the sun and moon through the sky. He had only given her wings for fun.

Nymeria soon flapped her wings and soared over the elven palace, quickly reaching the Well of Souls.

Hyperion dismounted, walked toward the well, and observed it curiously for a moment.

"Uhmmm, alright, it’s more or less what I expected. We’ll be able to do some interesting things with this," Hyperion said loudly for all the elves to hear. Both the dark and luminous elves were shocked. They thought Hyperion might be boasting, as he had only glanced at the well before claiming to understand it.

But then they remembered he had just made a wolf grow powerful wings with a mere touch. In the end, they decided to wait and see.

"If you’re done doubting me, does anyone here have hive substance on hand? I also need a luminous crystal," Hyperion said, rolling his eyes at the elves while demanding supplies.

The elves quickly brought what he asked for.

Hyperion then did something that shocked everyone—he plunged his hand into the Well of Souls and started stirring it around.

The elves thought they were about to lose the emperor they had just elected, but they were stunned when they saw him unharmed, casually playing with the well.

"By Freyr!" the dark elf king exclaimed in shock.

"You mean by Hyperion, right? Idiot!" the luminous elf king mocked, though his shock was no less than the other’s.

No one had ever survived entering the Well of Souls, so their astonishment was understandable.

Soon, Hyperion pulled his hand out, holding a white orb. The Well of Souls weakened significantly as he did so.

The luminous elves didn’t understand what Hyperion had done, but they felt sorrow upon seeing their sacred well so diminished. However, they swallowed their grief, as they had already sworn loyalty to Hyperion.

Hyperion noticed their saddened expressions, but since they had remained loyal, he wasn’t going to let them stay disheartened.

He plunged his hand back into the well and began channeling his magic, which he had altered to the element of light. The Well of Souls started strengthening at an extremely fast rate, soon surpassing its previous peak. The light from the well became so intense that everyone had to step back as it engulfed Hyperion completely.

Moments later, it stopped.

The elves were so shocked by the sudden events that it took them a moment to realize their emperor was still inside the blinding light. But this time, despite their nerves, they remained patient and waited.

Hyperion’s wives weren’t as shocked, as he had already explained his plans to them. In fact, Freya and Faye were quite excited.

Their patience was soon rewarded.

Hyperion emerged from the light, completely unharmed.

"Well, now you shouldn’t be sad that I took a little light from your well, right?" Hyperion asked with a smile.

"We wouldn’t dare!" all the elves, including the dark ones, knelt down in reverence and responded.
