So tell me what you want, what you really, really want
…Oops, looks like I got carried away by the song. cough cough Let's start over. Hey, my name is Peter Parker, and I just said goodbye to M.J after teaching her to sing Spice Girls - Wannabe. The culture in this world isn’t much different from my previous universe, so I’ve been teaching hit songs from 1996, which is the current year in this universe.
But enough of that. Right now, I’m getting into a taxi.
"Good afternoon! Take me to this address." I said, handing the driver a note with the Osborn mansion's address. I noticed his eyes widened when he saw it, so he probably recognized the place.
He didn’t ask anything and drove me straight there. It seems that associating with someone of prominent status can even silence a taxi driver’s endless chatter.
After a 30-minute ride, I arrived at the gates of a beautiful mansion. I got out of the taxi, pressed the intercom, and waited. Soon, a voice came through the speaker:
"Young master Peter, sorry for the delay, I’ll open the gates immediately." The voice was Bernard, the Osborn family's butler.
"It’s all right, Mr. Bernard. I didn’t wait long." I replied politely since Bernard is a good man who takes great care of Emily, so he deserves my respect.
As I responded, the electronic gates were already opening.
Before they fully opened, I had already stepped inside. I walked through the gardens, approaching the mansion doors, but before I reached them, the doors suddenly swung open, and a blur of brown hair hugged me.
A soft smile formed on my lips, so I hugged the cute girl in my arms back and said:
"Looks like someone missed me." I joked.
But all I got in return was a muffled sound as the girl buried her face deeper into my chest, saying:
"Of course I did, you idiot." Okay, I admit I took some damage from how adorable she was.
This girl was Emily Osborn, another imprint I had formed. Like Mary Jane, Emily is a very beautiful girl. She has brown hair, fair skin, and light brown eyes that are continuously shifting to a honey-like color. She has an energetic and decisive personality, and she is also very protective of those she loves.
Unlike Harry from the canon, Emily is deeply loved by her father, which surprisingly made Norman develop a milder temperament. He no longer devotes everything to business and has been focusing more on his personal life. Recently, Norman even found a girlfriend—his assistant at Oscorp. It seems that having a cooler head prevented him from investing everything in risky areas like weapons and performance enhancers. Instead, he focused heavily on healthcare, which led Oscorp to grow even more than in the original timeline… okay, I admit I might have influenced Norman’s decisions a little, but in the end, I was doing him a favor. I even provided some formulas to cure difficult diseases at a much lower cost.
I decided not to hide from Emily what I had done, and although she was a bit upset that I meddled with her father’s mind, she forgave me. After all, my intentions were pure, and she trusted me.
I met Emily when I was seven years old. We were dining at the city's finest restaurant for Uncle Ben and Aunt May's wedding anniversary… actually, I had to insist a lot for them to accept spending the money I earned on such luxury. Only after much persistence did they agree. It was totally worth it, and they had a wonderful night. That was also when Emily, who was there with her father, and I first saw each other and formed a bond. After that, one thing led to another, and here we are today.
Back to Emily—currently, she doesn’t have a specific dream, but she says she’ll be satisfied with any future, as long as I’m by her side.
My thoughts were interrupted as the girl lifted her head from my arms to say something.
"Pete, you won’t believe it! My dad finally agreed to let me study with you. Now we just need Ursula to join us so we can all be together! I’m so excited." Emily said happily.
"Wow, that’s amazing, Emily. I can’t wait! For the first time, I’m actually excited to go to school, haha. Speaking of Ursula, I need to go see her. Would you like to come with me?" I said with a happy smile, knowing that soon we’d all be together. After all, I really enjoyed having my girls around me. Maybe it was the bond that made being with each other so comfortable, or maybe it was simply because they loved me so much, and I loved them back.
"Of course! I miss Ursula too. We just need to tell my dad we’re leaving and ask Charles to drive us." Emily said excitedly.
Charles was the family’s chauffeur, and although he was a nice guy, he was irrelevant. The more important thing was that I’d have to see Norman. Contrary to what one might believe, Norman treats me very well. Maybe it’s because I’m a genius and he sees how carefully and affectionately I treat Emily, or maybe—just maybe—it’s because, when I made him abandon his weapons and human enhancement research, I subtly influenced him into thinking I’d make a great son-in-law… Okay, I never told Emily about that, but I have the right to be a little selfish sometimes, tehee. I also didn’t tell her that I convinced him to continue researching spiders. After all, even though I have my own methods to create much better spiders, I’d rather not risk failing to establish a connection with the Web of Life and Destiny. Of course, I’d improve whatever spider Osborn developed. Actually, I have some pretty crazy ideas for that, but let’s not get into that now, since a wild girl is getting impatient.
"Come on, Pete!" Emily said, pulling me by the arm as we entered the mansion’s corridors.
After walking for a few minutes and admiring the beautiful architecture of the Osborn residence, we arrived in front of sturdy wooden doors.
Emily let go of my arm, stepped in front of the door, and knocked.
Knock knock
"Dad, can I come in? Pete is here," Emily asked in a sweet and polite voice.
Soon, a voice from the other side of the door responded.
"Come in," Norman's voice echoed.
Emily then opened the doors, and we saw Norman sitting behind his desk with some folders and papers in front of him.
"Good evening, Mr. Osborn," I said as his eyes landed on me.
"Haha, Peter, as polite as ever, I see. It’s good to see you again," Norman said with a warm smile, as if he were looking at his own son.
After some greetings and a little conversation, Emily got permission to leave, and we said our goodbyes before heading to find the driver, Charles.
Next destination: Ursula.
