RWBY First "Friend" Demo

This week I wanted to share a VERY rough, old demo (I apologize in advance for the couple of terrible notes in there) that I found from when my dad and I were bouncing ideas off of each other for the RWBY Volume 8 end credits song, which would later become "Friend!" I was trying to find a way to use Penny's melodic motif/theme to create an intro for a full song that told more of her story. My dad had some different ideas for the intro too, but he also really liked the idea of using her motif in the intro. So funny enough, we decided to use two completely opposing ideas and combine them to make one theatrical song intro, and I think it worked quite well! We changed the melody of my intro idea as well to fit the more upbeat transition into the verses, which I think ended up serving the whole song well. I really like how to whole song turned out; I feel like it takes you on a very special journey through Penny's psyche. It's fun, it's dramatic, and it's unique, just like her! I actually also wrote the sort of second bridge towards the end of the song, before the last chorus. Anyways, I hope you enjoy hearing this baby version of what the song turned out to be.

Beautiful! I also love how the song turned out in the end, especially the part where it said "I heard a song once, it posed this point of view: that wishes made on stars are likely to come true. So here's my secret: at bedtime every night, I searched the sky and hoped to find a star who'd send a light..." I just love that message and imagery of a child hoping and dreaming as they're going to bed. Anyway, I also love this version and tbh this version reminds me more of Penny's story. But I just love hearing the stuff you guys put out and that's cool to hear about you and your dad crafting this song together! I love your creativity and emotional honesty that's apparent in your songs.
