Hey there, this week I wanted to share this little poem that I wrote a while back with you guys. I was thinking a lot about desire and the many forms it takes. All the ways it can make us feel, or long for a particular feeling. Its vastness, beauty, and mystery, and the way it changes over time.
I hope some part of it resonates with you, or that you enjoy the read.
my desire feels like death
the most beautiful, painless one I could imagine
my desire feels like a shortness of breath
of the most crisp, refreshing air I've ever inhaled
my desire tastes like all of my favorite foods at once
it tastes of every mouth,
smells of all of the sweat and dirt from every body I've ever loved
my desire looks like a dream
one I couldn't remember,
yet the best I've ever had
my desire feels like a pounding in my chest
I've never felt such sweetness
or such longing.
