April 2025 - Dreadful Creatures

This month’s pack is Dreadful Creatures — a mix of grim and spooky tokens to throw into your darker fantasy adventures. I put together everything from angry villagers and twisted Animongrels to creepy things like a Magic Broom, a Swarm of Bats, and a haunted Crawling Hut owned by Baba Babushka herself.

You’ll also find bigger threats like the Amber Golem, Tree Blight, Phantom Warrior, and some classic undead like zombies and witches. There’s even a Snow Maiden and a Wereraven tucked in for good measure.

Perfect if you’re running horror sessions, cursed forests, or just want your players to feel like something awful is lurking just out of sight. Hope you enjoy the new pack — and as always, can’t wait to hear what you do with it!

Animated Extras

Every now and then, I get the itch to try something new—like animating my tokens. Thanks to some new tools, it’s become a bit easier, so this month I’m excited to include a bonus pack of animated Dreadful Creatures!

Just a heads-up: this is extra content, and I don’t plan on doing an animated pack every month (at least, not yet). That said, I’d really love to hear what you think! I’m sure there’s still a lot to improve, and your feedback would be super helpful.

The best place to share your experiences is over on the Discord. Hope you have fun with them!

AI Transparency

I want to be fully transparent to you about the use of Artificial Intelligence as a tool in creating these tokens. I have used AI to increase my output and workflow. The way I use AI, is as a tool, as a part of the process.  Digital drawing and creative human input is still a large part of the process.

Spreadsheet Archive

We’re testing a new Spreadsheet Archive to make finding tokens easier. Since we avoid using certain names for legal reasons, locating specific tokens can sometimes be tricky.

To help, there’s now a "This token could also be used to represent" section where you can suggest ideas. By phrasing it like "this token could represent a Beholder," we stay on the safe side while keeping things flexible. Thanks for helping make the archive even better!

You can find it here.

Foundry VTT

To simplify the import of these images into Foundry VTT, I recommend using the 'Drag Upload' module.

Tokens included:

All tokens come in multiple variations

WebP or PNG

The download includes both WebP and PNG files. WebP is smaller in file size but not yet supported by all browsers and applications. You can safely use it in Foundry VTT. Use PNG for Roll20 and other VTTs.

I need to figure out how to output as WebM

OK, so I like most of the animations overall, and their actions are better than you usually get with animated token. But the GIF format is not good IMO. They look a bit grainy...some more than others. I think most of the other animated tokens I have (and have seen) use WebM. I believe the file size would be smaller too. The bat swam animation is just a collection of static bats rotating in a circle...not good. I think this is the only one I saw like this.

The animation is soooooo good! More more more, please :) <3
