This Patreon page is now per-month!

Hello again everyone! I have decided that it is absolutely better for all of us if my Patreon page is set to “per-month.” Please adjust your patronage as you wish to match this change! I am making this change for many reasons, so read on if you're curious.

The result of last week's polls and the comments you left gave me a lot to think about. First of all, I am so happy that most of you are so supportive of my medium-effort videos! This is a huge relief, but I won't allow it to make me complacent. This Patreon page is a testament to the fact that I chose to stand against the Youtube algorithm by focusing on highly-produced video content. I can't forget how important the big projects (such as "how it feels") are to me.

In other words, big projects will always be the priority. Unfortunately, it is not healthy to jump directly from one big project to another. Scripted content is really intense to produce, and this is where the medium-effort videos come in.

Medium-effort videos were always supposed to be "work away from work." They are a productive way to prevent burnout. However, having the Patreon page set to “per creation” has made the production of these videos unnecessarily stressful. Making people pledge the same “per-creation” amount for medium-effort videos as they do for the big videos has made me feel like they have to be “equal” in some way, even though that’s impossible.

I think most people already understand that the money from the medium-effort videos indirectly supports the big videos, but this is kind of convoluted. A monthly system really simplifies it and allows you to confidently pledge an amount you are comfortable with.

Patrons who are here specifically to support the big, scripted projects will hopefully understand that they are now supporting the creative process as a whole. The big projects will always be my #1 priority, but if I get stuck while working on them I will work on medium-effort videos instead. I hope you will see the medium-effort videos as a byproduct of the bigger videos, rather than something that is getting in the way of them. And don’t worry: I have no delusions about “oh I don’t have to work as hard now that the Patreon is monthly.” I’m still highly invested in the growth of my channel, and that doesn’t happen unless I continue to work hard.

Hopefully that’s the last wall of words I’ll have to subject you to for a while. Thank you for understanding as I try and figure out the best system for creating consistent, enjoyable content.

I support this decision. Hopefully that mean more low/medium effort content on the channel. I don't mind seeing one HOW IT FEELS video each month as long as I get some alternative forms of entertainment, lazypurple style.

The reactions from the poll were interesting, there are clearly some who are into ONLY supporting the big project videos, which is unfortunate, but to be expected. There's never a clean and simple way to give everything they want, but I support whatever will keep you from burning out in resentment over the grind to entertain others.

In a more serious tone, it is absolutely great that you're deciding to go easy on yourself, the sheer magnitude of quality your videos display obviously present just how much effort is put into them, and keeping a steady stream of work cannot be easy.

Ah, the quick edit to adjust the text's flair, always a good touch.

That's totally understandable, and something I was expected anyway. I'm glad you made the change, it's for the best!
