great rection

Cerulean Spectre

So the first 4 episodes are meant to be watched as a single introduction to frieren and the hero’s party The rest of the show has a similar feel but does feel more story focused and keeps the low-fi vibes, the comedy in the show is so underrated there’s jokes everywhere The animation has so much hidden detail, like when frieren told Eisen that they’d search for a tree and eisen says it’s ridiculous you can see Fern’s face get extra grumpy and then frieren looks at her and she turns around to physically unscrunch her face just to turn around with conviction saying “we will search efficiently” You’re starting to see the bs frieren puts fern through and the reactions are hidden just out of the focus points in every scene it’s beautiful 🤣🤣

Such a cool freaking concept! I love this show so much! Stoked to see how this new journey goes for Frieren and Fern!

For freaking real. Every episode has been like that!

You can tell the writing is on point when you have a low key episode no major battles yet you are surprised that you've already reached the end of the episode.

This was the last episode released at the same time as the other 3 before it, and the main reason is probably because it sets the goal for the entire anime. The first 3 episodes are basically "ok, so the main quest is done, what else is there to do to keep ourselves busy?", and then this episode gives you the real premise, which is to find Heaven and talk to Himmel by retracing the entire first journey, experiencing new things while reminiscing of the past without having to worry about the same things as the first time. It's like if, say, after finishing Skyrim you had the possibility to restart from your starting place, but years after the events of the game. No threat of a dragon trying to conquer the realm of the dead, no war between Imperials and Stormcloaks, no faction quests. Just you going back through the places you've visited, and seeing the consequences of your actions on what the world has become.

I love shows with short and beautiful fights. They are so much more realistic and they are more memorable and meaningful than 60+ episode fights that are dragged out to insanity (dragonball z). The show has the time to prepare for its high points and low points, you really get to know the characters and the world and they hint all sorts of fun things if you look closely.

Welcome to the end of the prologue gentlemen. I find it funny how many reactors say the same thing "I thought they killed the Demon King" just because you kill a king, doesn't mean you raze his castle. The real question is why is the castle where Heaven is supposed to be.

Freiren checks all the boxes: Music, Art, Character development, attention to detail. It is truly a great anime.

There are so many versions of magic systems out there, even if you are just looking at how the mage gets and uses the power, that unless you are told specifically in the particular story, you don't know where the magic comes from, how they use it, whether they can improve their power or it's always the same, whether they get tired in the normal way, or they experience any feeling of depletion at all.

This series has a LOT of flashbacks. Both to the hero party and to her time as an apprentice to the Great Mage Flamme. And the art is almost as awesome as the writing of the story. I fell in love with this series at the first episode.

Edward Lott

Actually based upon source material she is maybe 1600 to 2000 years old, which in elf terms means she is very young. It is just 1000 years since she was the apprentice of Flamme the Legendary Mage..

Edward Lott

So, 80 years ago Frieren didn’t want to take an apprentice because they’d just die quickly anyway. It seems like a defense for her. Like she didn’t want to get attached. She’s definitely over 1000 years old, so must have lost over the years. A dwarf would be the closest race to know the pain of longevity, even if not as long lived as elves.
