There's a difference between what the characters believe and what we, the viewers, learn in this show, which is something that confuses a lot of people. I explained the eunuch peeing situation some time before, I will try to find which episode. Edit: There's a whole thread on the subject on Episode 2. Power dynamics are central to this story.

I love seeing Jinshi grow, and there's a part of that I didn't catch until just now after finishing season 1. I'll just say that I've gone back and watched both seasons so many times and I still find little details. It's a really good show. I hope you guys enjoy the ride! I'll be following along.
