Great reaction I waited because I wanna see the reaction to the next one!! Omg y’all caught so much through the episode one of you almost called the “kill yourself” command but it’s so much more badass because That’s what Aura started doing when the soldiers rebelled through willpower- that’s what the graff or whatever was telling stark and fern in the church Frieren understood it by the description of the scales and the headless suits of armor The flashbacks tie in perfectly with this story every time I love it- It’s not that they’re just suppressing their mana, they’re doing that and still training their fundamental’s to raise their base mana- that’s was the second part of Flamme’s training So their mana looks as small as possible with one training and gets as strong as possible with the other but at the same time Makes the “resting” at just reducing mana feel like an actual break but the pay off has already been showcased When they gotta shoot a spell off, they can release what mana they want/need because it’s restricted already so it’s super efficient to cast and since fern only knows one attack spell her cast speed will keep getting higher She’s like, 16, and just demolished someone who could solo a garrison of soldiers- she’s going to be insanely strong!!

Well said! During the episode John seemed a little curious as to why Flamme would tell Frieren to live in obscurity. And we can see from how Aura had analyized Frieren that was a significant aspect to the whole "deceive the demons plan". Since Frieren has remained out of the lime light for 1000 years up until the Demon King was defeated, Aura was under the impression that Frieren was a relative newcomer. Even the fact that Frieren had the party of Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen lends to Frieren keeping a low profile lol

Frieren's name translated can be read as "frozen: and her actions with the just defeated Aura sums that up exactly, walking away from Aura so Aura's last image will be Frieren's back. Heiter when observing Frieren said her mana was as 1/5 of his so 10% of Frieren's mana means Heiter's mana was 5 times Frieren shown mana, gives you a measure of other human mages.

What can one say? I soooooo wanted to spoiler this episode! Not only does it give you Frieren's backstory it also spills the beans on why the elves are mostly gone. The demons killed all but the really strong ones. Then she spent a millennia in self-imposed exile avoiding anything that would let her secret out. She joined Himmel because he said to her the same words to her that she had said to Flamme. I have a feeling.

I've been wanting to talk about that demon killing herself for so long. Man that was great. when the show started you just think she's a sweet little elf but just wow. how cool was that.

Aura, be like: Git Gud Noob Frieren: I’m gonna do what’s called a pro-gamer move

So now we know that every time we've seen Frieren use magic in this show, we now know it's been at MOST 10% of her power. When she killed Qual with no effort in episode 3? That was 10% of her power. We can infer from this that when she originally sealed Qual 80 years ago, that was because 10% wasn't enough to kill him back then. She probably could have killed Qual 80 years ago if she used her full power, but she didn't. She never used her full power because Flamme told her to live in obscurity until she defeats the Demon King. Even now, she continues to suppress her mana all the time, and only uses it when 1. No one is around (that will live, lol sorry Aura), and 2. It's absolutely necessary. She's the ultimate sleeper agent. Also... The flashback scene after we see Frieren at Flamme's grave is a montage of her next 1000 years of life up until she meets Himmel. We see her alone and isolated from civilization, building her home, meditating, etc. She did that for almost 1000 years until Himmel found her. That montage lasted 50 seconds. Then we see multiple very quick shots, and if you slow it down, it's shots of her adventures with Himmel and the party. Those quick shots last 0.5 seconds... which is 1/100th of the previous scene, representing the 1/100th, or 10 years, of her life she spent travelling with the party (10/1000 = 0.5/50)

This is the episode that definitely sold me on Frieren being one of my favorite shows. I already liked it before that, but this one made it shoot to the top of the list. The flow of the episode slowly revealing every bit of information you need to understand the outcome of the fight, the sheer coldness of Frieren's final order to Aura, this is so awesome, and that's how you write a good strong character. That scene also spawned a good number of fun memes and fanarts (like one where Frieren ordered Aura to work retail, and then you see her working as a cashier). I've never checked to see if it's correct, but one of my theories, given that Frieren says that supressing her mana tires her out, is that it's the main reason for her sleeping so much and not being a morning person.
