So this was originally broadcast on ITV which is the BBC's main rival which meant that, as you noticed, they were able to show branding and logos. ITV also has ad breaks in their programming (which have obviously been cut from the version you are watching) so you may be able to tell where they were slotted in by how some scenes end/start. Also, Broadchurch is just a fictional town and the whole season is one story so no 'cases of the week' (Don't know if that's considered a spoiler... sorry if it is)
