Like many Yokai, Jorogumo are born from particularly wise and canny feral spiders that manage to live long enough to blossom into sapience. When the Jorogumo undergo this transformation, they typically become much larger, and begin to prey upon mortals instead of their typical diet, seeing them as mere insects caught in their webs. Indeed, the mindset of the Jorogumo does not change much from their former state, even as their understanding of the world around them broadens. They cling to their baser instincts to feed and breed, though they learn to make use of their newfound Yokai powers to ensnare mortals in metaphorical webs of passion and seduction, before entrapping them in literal webs to feed upon.

Most Jorogumo prefer to feed upon men, finding air-headed himbos to be particularly tasty and obtainable prey. They transform into beautiful women to find men so young, dumb, and full of cum, and ensnare them in a whirlwind romance. Soon, the smitten mortals are convinced to elope with their new lovers, returning to the Jorogumo’s lair, where the guise is dropped and they are ‘wed’ to their new bride.

The Jorogumo then delights in slowly feeding upon their entrapped lover, savoring every last drop of them over the course of weeks or months, before they’re finally dry to the bone, and the Jorogumo consumes the dried-out husk in one final meal, exalting their fallen with one final meal, before they begin plotting their next acquisition.
Jorogumo in season will use their captured husbands to incubate their eggs. While this normally results in the hatching of particularly large mundane spiders, more powerful Jorogumo can instead produce lesser spider Yokai through this process.
