Among the seven Whore Queens of the Chancel, the Lady of Pride is often viewed as the most pivotal role, as her domain in coordinating and maintaining the city's temples and worship doctrines is vital in maintaining the demonic boons that keep the city running. Without those profane gifts that fuel much of the city's magic and keep it warm against the bitter cold outside its walls, they would be truly destitute.
The current Lady of Pride was the oldest member of the Whore Queens still serving before the Chancel's fall, seemingly content to hold her position of authority indefinitely without any efforts to groom an heir. Such replacements were typically prepared to assume the Whore Queen's position when they inevitably met their end to the characteristic backstabbing machinations so common in their hierarchy, but this particular Lady of Pride managed to rebuff and survive countless such attempts unperturbed.
That capability of hers to no-sell and exact immediate retribution upon her foes with so little emotion or exertion gave her quite the frightful reputation, causing such schemes to greatly diminish in number over time.
Following the fall of the Chancel, the Lady of Pride appears to be the only Whore Queen who's remain uncorrupted by the beast plague, at least outwardly, her appearance seemingly unchanged and remaining the stalwart diva she's always been. But with even the most resilient and prudent of mortals falling to the plague's influence, could she truly have emerged fully unscathed?
