Thanks for the cameos! Heh, Hartley got to be in the background AND background story - how's that for double entendre?

phhht I was IRKED at myself, like "why is this page taking three days?" OH RIGHT, because it's a flashback montage where every panel's a new, complex set piece. This chapter's a real motherbitch like that. Glad it's turning out well enough, though! I'm definitely levelling my skills in background painting with this project. Yeah, the more I look at the Counselor, the more his special flavor of sociopathy intrigues me. What DOES this guy think about? Heh, I didn't change Maine's palette, but I'll take it...? The different overlays I've used in each of his scenes does make him appear a lil' off. Loved a chance to paint some fairgrounds (again - been a hot minute since chapter 8.) My only egret :hee: for the second Lina panel is a lack of FUBAR dropship - York had gone to TOWN in that scene. And LOVED your set-up with the warwoof mosh pit. It's SUCH a harrowing scene, and I really wanted to bust out the dramatic silhouettes for it. Totally worth the extra layer. So thank YOU for the solid foundation, ya crazy genius.

I absolutely love how perfectly you've captured Hartley in these last couple pages. He looks so spent and burnt out, and Delta VII is the beginning. There were still over 60 more in Delta and HUNDREDS later. It's no wonder he got out when he did. All of this suffering weighing on his soul, all of the pain he's put these people through. None of this is what he wanted. Hartley wanted to help create soldiers, but the Director settled for slaves. Hopefully he'll get a chance to make his peace. He at least deserves to repent for it all.

Oh man, I don't even know where to go with this page. It's amazing. You did so much with so few words...I mean, really, the only words are the voice-over, so...*yeah* all this emotion is without dialogue. Hard hittin' shit you got here. I do love the Counselor just calmly jotting notes on Church in the electro-ball...*lmao*. What a dingleberry, he's such an entertaining but infuriating presence. Ya picked the perfect look for 'im, seriously. Oh *shit* Maine before his coloration :allears: Or desaturation, I guess. Gawd, that's a good frame. And I really love that we see *Tex* there. Even if she says she followed Beta pack, we otherwise never see her doing the wolf-thing. It's a neat li'l shot. ...But yeah, you know where my heart is. 3 and 5 are so strong. GAWD York's face when Lina is giving him the key, *hnnngh* you did that expression so fuckin' well. There's not enough *hnnnnghs* in the book for that NOR for the way you mirrored it in 5. Gawd, my heart. Holding the key while she injects him, just...*hnnnnnnnngh*. You made it that much better. HER expression is the winner there, the way she's looking at him sells the whole goddamn page. Never won't fawn over this one. And then lawd 6 and 7 with the ***wince***. The silhouettes of the warwoofs is a great strategy to really give a hard, cold mood...and you knocked it outta the fuckin' park with 7. I will never be able to express properly how good that panel is. York towering over Wash, Wash showing *pure* terror over what he sees. It's such a goddamn perfect capture. Love, love, love the glint of the key, how we just see York's tattoo...and yeah, Director 'n Counselor watching the whole thing. Woof, I love this page, and I LOVE that last panel. Good hits, lady.
