Melodrama Analysis: Part IV- "The Louvre" (Blind Reaction/Analysis)

I listen to the song for the first time and look for English-y things! This was a fun one, y'all!

Also, I Googled the lyrics after this reaction and "supernatural" is one word, so disregard what I said in the video 😂😂😂

I am so glad you are here! Thank you for your support!

English Teacher KP

I'm here for Lorde, haha, and I just needed to watch all of these analyses—you're amazing. I hope you also react to her other albums: "Pure Heroine" (+ "The Love Club EP") and "Solar Power (Deluxe Edition)". 💕

OMG! Happy (almost) Birthday! My birthday is this week as well! May 21 🎈🎂🎊

English Teacher KP

Right?? I'm glad that wasn't just me!

English Teacher KP

You were very much correct!

English Teacher KP

You explain this so beautifully! Wow! Thank you so much!

English Teacher KP

I think that was my favorite part! I loved it!

English Teacher KP

English Teacher Kp it's my birthday on Wednesday the 18th of May 🎉🎂

love blind reactions it’s so interesting seeing your first reaction to the lyrics! this is definitely one of my favourite songs of hers even though the repetition of that one line kind of bothers me when i listen to it to be honest 😅 i’ve always wondered if there’s any meaning behind that

j

I told you it was summery-nighttimey!! 😍

I never noticed the mention of the “five” senses !!! It’s mindblowing !

Adorado

This song is so poetic and beautiful, the sound of the words casts a spell on me every time :) I'm so glad you had fun finding all the literary elements to this one: it really is a poem to rival any that happens to not be set to music! I loved the moment you realized what she was doing with the "heart beating violently" imagery, because I think it's very clever of her. As for the meaning of the repetition: I think it's emphasizing the way that their relationship is art in and of itself. She doesn't have to dress it up to make it into a song, anyone can dance just to the way her heart beats when she's around her lover. The same thing goes for the other sensory imagery, I think. The physical aspect of their relationship itself is already art.

She definitely seems to love contrast!

English Teacher KP

Really??? That is awesome!!!

English Teacher KP

I LOVED it ❤❤❤

English Teacher KP

I'm so glad you enjoyed it ❤❤❤

English Teacher KP

Very interesting! I can totally see how that works now! Thanks!

English Teacher KP

I always found it interesting how she says “broadcast the boom, boom, boom, boom and make em all dance to it” followed by a really choppy, inconsistent beat that’s really hard to dance to lol. I feel like she did that on purpose and it’s supposed to mean something.

isn't that opening line just a killer?? its doing so many things at once, I was so excited for u to hear it and analyze it loll

ky

Lorde usually does this breaking the fourth wall thing where she takes in account that she's gonna be putting out all these feelings for the public to hear and entertain them with even though these are rlly intimate moments in her life and how it will eventually make its way back to the person she's singing about. You'll see it again in writer in the dark, I love the self awareness which is much needed for an album titled melodrama. Also she repeats the chorus over a beat that is actually the sound of her heartbeat !! isn't that just so cool

ky

I loved watching you blind react to this one! I adore this song, definitely one of my favorites off of the album. I always think that after listening to this album on repeat so many times I'd know the exact meaning behind every song, but once again, you've proved me wrong! You always get me thinking about the deeper meanings of my favorite songs and I love it. I can't wait to see you react to the rest! 😊

throughout the album, lorde uses the fading out only on songs that are of specific memories or looking back at a certain time, almost like a feeling that's fading from memory.

ky

You nailed the theme!

English Teacher KP

I think the fade out is a fitting way to transition into a song as devastating as liability, especially since the theme of the Louve is basically “aight this relationship is a mess let’s make some art out of it”
