Manic Analysis- "Finally//Beautiful Stranger"

I feel so late, because I usually see these right away but with the holidays, I just watched it now and I loved your analysis. This track isn't my favorite on the album, but it's up there for me. Hope you're well!

Oh wow! I bet your story is so good!

This song still makes me tear up a little. It’s so beautiful. I even wrote a story because of it. I love this whole album, but this song is a stand-out for me. It never gets old. The actual music video is gorgeous, too.

Don't apologize! I love reading/listening to people talk about what they love! Plus, you always have the best tea! Thank you for continuing to add context to these songs! Also, I bet the concert was AMAZING!

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I'm going to put that one on YouTube for sure! Also, I love that Halsey wanted to write a love song; you can definitely feel the love they have for the subject in this song!

Love what the others commented about the song! Yungblud is seriously such an Angel human. He’s such a great person and stands up for what’s right on the daily and brings more love into the world everyday because of his music and art. His real name is dominic, people call him Dom for short -but he’s not Dominic Fike who is on the interlude) The thing I have to add is the real story behind the lyric “think I know a bar where they will leave us alone.” Halsey said she slid into Yungblud’s DMs and asked if they could meet up at a bar and talk. They met up and had such a deep connection right away. While at the bar, yungblud told Halsey this true story from back where he’s from in England where these high school sweethearts broke up and then later reconnected and were going to meet up and while the girl was on her way to meet her ex love she was in a car accident and died.. and the man waiting for her was mad because he didn’t know why she was late. And he said he was thinking of making a song about it and Halsey said yes, you have to write that!! And they wrote it together, the song is called 11 minutes by yungblud and Halsey and travis barker on the drums. The song and the video especially is worth a watch sometime if you’re looking for a good video to watch in your free time😊❤️ This song really fits well where it is in the album as we just heard her breakup song with G Eazy and then she’s reluctant to get back out and date and trust someone again when she meets yungblud and falls hard for him. The split was mutual and they still support and love each other as friends 100%. They said they don’t have a bad word to say about each other. As someone mentioned they even hung out as friends after the breakup. Yungblud is younger than her and relatively new at being famous in America and wasn’t interested in settling down right away, was feeling interested in polyamory and questioning his sexuality he’s said, feeling more fluid and Halsey wanted to settle down soon and have kids, so they both supported each other in the place they were at in life. 🥰sorry I could talk Halsey all day lmao such a fan girl. She really is an incredibly talented singer and sounds even better live than on the track. I love when she adds a bunch of growls to her songs and little screams that are cute and make the performance hit so hard. Especially after this last album If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power, such a badass. Had so much fun at her concert in may.

even tho YUNGBLUD and Halsey had broken up when the song was released, they've still remained friends and were pretty close, even attending the BLM protests in LA together. In an interview Halsey said she felt like she never actually wrote a proper love song that didn't have a punch line or sort of a "I hate everybody" twist. She wanted to write a song about a beautiful night because that's what she experienced 🥺So, even tho they didn't last after the turmoil that was G Easy, I'm happy she was able to experience and learn what being in a safe/ supportive relationship was like, and I'm happy now she's found her person! You Should be Sad would be a great YouTube vid btw!

Awesome! Thanks!

I absolutely love this song; it’s the raw vulnerability that really gets me, and that sense of longing for something to finally happen. Loved your analysis, thank you so much! Btw, I think that You should be sad would make a great Patreon sneak peek.

Ahhh-- I see. You can definitely feel how much Halsey cares for him in this song. The emotion is palpable. I really enjoyed this one!

English Teacher KP

This song is so beautiful and Halsey calls it "the first love song that I’ve ever written." It's not about G-easy thankfully it's actually about another musician YUNGBLUD (they had broken up by the time the song was released) but Halsey clearly still cares for him and has implied that the breakup was amicable
