Ok so I had to come back and comment because I was having some enrichment time with my classical mythology books and jumped as soon as I read this. But in this book it quotes Homer on dreams and nightmares. " of dreams o stranger some are meaningless and idle and can never be fulfilled. Two prtals are there for their shadowy shapes, of ivory one, and one of horn. The dreams that come of ivory deceive with promises that are never good; but those which pass the doors of polished horn and are beheld of men, are never true" which the stans who have seen the video h is waking up and the beginning of the mv. I got SO EXCITED ABOUT IT AND I HAD TO SHARE

The music video for strangers the two women are in a boxing ring fighting. Halsey said “the vid is a metaphor for a toxic relationship. You beat each other down as you get weaker & more desperate ur shots get dirty & you fight cheap. You lose sight of what you’re even fighting for. When someone finally wins, what have they really won? Won a fight. Lost the person you love.” At the end of the song in the background Halsey is saying “you lost it. You lost it. You lost it. You’re not whole.”

Even the part where Lauren says “shes never listening, she says it’s innocent” Halsey has written lyrics saying she never takes the blame. So even her saying oh I didn’t mean to, it was an accident, I didn’t purposely ignore you. And then says in the song Gasoline off badlands “pointing fingers cause you’ll never take the blame like me” and in the song Alone off this album “and I can never say sorry, cause i won’t take the blame; you ask why I’m distant oh, I’m running away” gah I love the connections Halsey always has.

“She doesn’t call me on the phone anymore. She’s never listening” Sorry: “I’ve missed your calls for months it seems, don’t realize how mean I can be.” Alone: “said he tried to phone me, but I never have time. He said that I never listen, but I don’t even try.” Now or never: “never pick up, never call me. You know we running out of time” It makes more sense because the music videos are supposed to be watched together to tell a story so it’s even cooler lol

Very cool! I think Rosaline is such an interesting part of Romeo and Juliet!

English Teacher KP

That's so amazing! I really like her voice!

For the Romeo and Juliet connection… Lauren’s character in the music video is named “Rosa.” In other words, she and Halsey are Rosaline and Romeo.

Lauren was a member of Fifth Harmony and I remember an interview where she spoke on how honored she was to be featured on this because she identifies as a bisexual woman, but hadn't spoken much on it at the time.
