I think it's so fitting you're also diving into Hozier while you're diving into Florence. Both of their fandoms have been BEGGING for them to collab for years since the beginning of his career. They've been teasing a collab for years as well so it keeps us clowning lol

Lol ok this comment isn’t about the song but something you said during it! it’s so funny because as you uploaded this and talked about why people love dogs more than cats often times is because of how loyal and loving dogs are and freely give that love most of the time and my grandma and I were on the phone at the same time talking about how starting a cat rescue was me finding my true purpose in life and how my brother and I find the love from cats to be on a whole other level of special to us because you have to really EARN a cats trust and love and it can take weeks to even years to gain some cats trust and love. I’ve been working on these feral cats for 3 years now and finally got one to accept me last month and she’s running to meet me every morning to get loves and it’s just so special. To see a cat so feral and sick and in pain and sad and nurse them back to health and help take care of them and their kittens and to see their whole demeanor change when they learn that you will never hurt them and the look of true love in their eyes is priceless to me. I’m a wild cat lady to the extreme, sorry lol I’ll bring cats up anytime I can bc I’m with them all day, everyday 😂😂 also adore this song!!!

Hozier is the master of sexual imagery that has a double meaning. Most of his songs are like that. I will also say that he’s gained a lot of lesbian fans (including me) because the way he writes about loving women is really similar to the “female gaze.” So excited for the rest of this album! :)

Great video! I'm just so happy that I joined patreon just as you started this, Hozier have a special place in my heart alongside Florence and Taylor. Even though Wasteland Baby is my personal favorite, this first album have some of the best compositions in his career and I can't wait to get there!

Hozier has confirmed that he is referencing the Catholic Church that he grew up around in Ireland. He was not raised Catholic but Quaker, however. In an interview he said, “The damage done by the Church to the people of Ireland is completely irreparable, and the reparations are all too few“ and “I still wouldn’t define myself as an atheist - it’s too absolute. But I don’t have any faith. I think faith is an absurd thing but I’m OK with that. Have you seen the music video for the song before? The music video shows a gay couple being violently prosecuted by a religious group (TW for violence if you watch the video). While Hozier is straight, featuring gay couple in the music video in 2014 (pre gay marriage in the US) is very significant
