Also - years of drinking, smoking, caffeine, coke, vaping, being on your phone video games etc all blast your reward system with artificially elevated levels of dopamine, temporarily, and then they drop below where your baseline levels started. So years of doing that, which I've done as well, means your ability to feel anything resembling happiness or joy are greatly diminished. The way to recover is to cut most of those out, and your brain begins to recover after a month or two, not completely, but you will feel significantly better, and I can attest to this.
