Hi!

This week, the city where I live was hit with intense summer rains—the kind that come out of nowhere and cause flash floods. Luckily, I live in an area that doesn’t flood, but the power grid is another story. Twice this week, I lost progress because the power went out, and of course, I hadn’t saved my work. Lesson learned.

Anyway, one more scene is fully done and rendered! I was aiming to complete two this week (and might still manage it over the weekend), but I ended up focusing on feedback I received from some players about the timing table. A few mentioned that seeing "MC" on it broke immersion. To address this, I created a new screen that dynamically displays the player’s actual name on the timing table, and even calculates a delta!

To make things easier for myself, I also built a small app to parse a CSV timing table directly into code, so I don’t have to do it manually each time. I’m hoping to extend this system to show overlays of timings and sectors where applicable, but that’s a problem for future C. Also, f*** coding tables.

What really ate up most of the time was dealing with the game’s naming system. It defines the MC’s name and surname at the start but didn’t account for initials. Figuring out how to make it work with loaded saves took way longer than it should have. In the end, the solution was embarrassingly simple—just one line of code to check and define the initial right before the table is shown. Felt pretty dumb after that, but hey, it works now.

The next update is 14% complete. Hopefully 19% by Sunday!
