Marking Realism

Hello everyone!

It is done^^ What you see here is a school homework. That's right, my art teacher wants us to draw something regarding a certain topic every week. You can call it a weekly homework and the first week's topic was "Fruits".
I will try to link every drawing we have to make to MLP without anyone noticing :P What do I mean by that? Well, this drawing shows Applejack's Cutie Mark IRL :P Three apples, you can't do anything wrong, right?

Basically, i wanted to draw this because it'll be a good practice for me when it comes to working with brushes, light and shading and I am AMAZED with how it turned out^^ Seriously, I think I got pretty close to realism, although I know it could be better XD I am happy with the result^^

Note that we have to draw these weekly things in a different way with different techniques so it won't always be digital artwork, but mostly traditional. We will see how it goes. Nevertheless, I actually am looking forward to these homework-types.
Hope you like it!

you TOTALLY should've drawn three "flamboyant" people and then carefully watched your teacher's reaction as you turned it in... [on a more constructive note, the texture on the apples is absolutely amazing (Fuji Apples?), but I think the shadows could use more work--mostly I would think the center area would be a lot darker since the apples are blocking almost every possible way any light could get in there. With the shiny reflections on the shadowy inside, I almost suspect you made the apples separately and then moved them together. :) Like if each apple were shown individually, the lighting and shadows would be SPOT on. Hmmm...thinking about it more, I guess maybe its not necessarily that the shadows are inaccurate, but that they're not self-consistent? In other words, I think the placement of the shadows of each apple tends to suggest that the light source is coming from a different spot. Of course I envy anyone that can draw organic objects...I never really got past doodling with rectilinear objects. XD]
