:COMM: Little Girl

Hey everyone,

so, this is a private commission for a friend of my mum and me. She asked me to draw a portrait of her daughter for her parents as a christmas gift and this is the result.
Now throughout the process, I learned to hate this piece because of all the negative feedback I received during the process via classmates, friends and even teachers. On the other hand, to be quite honest, I am proud of myself since this is the actual first REAL portrait I've created and I liked the way it turned out as such.

From what I've heard, babies are one of the hardest things to do when drawing portraits and I think it was hard, but I think this is just me being not that certain when it comes to drawing humans in general. It was challenging indeed because I had to change the hair quite often. Seriously, she had many different hair cuts before that and they all looked terrible and unrealistic. I apologize for my harsh critizism on myself but this has to be, as well. Nevertheless, I had fun putting layer upon layer for the colouring and in my opinion, the shading turned out very well. Maybe not my favourite piece, but I'm pleased with the result, although some anatomical mistakes are here and there and the overall appearance (regardless the expression which was given my the commissioner) might seem a little odd. I understand and tolerate that, but keep in mind that I did my very best I could when I worked on it and that I see this as a kind of prectice for human faces, realism and colouring.
