Love in a new Generation (Contest Entry)

This drawing took me quite some time to plan actually since it's my 2nd and this time even more serious entry for :iconestories:'s "Style your G5 MLP Art Contest", which you can find over here: http://fav.me/dcxg415
You know me too well to know I would chose Rainbow Dash and Spitfire together, don't you? :P Heh, indeed^^ I heard rumors about Rainbow and that she's planned to be more tomboy-ish or even more masculine in G5 (can't tell if these are only rumors or fact already) which suits me just fine to be honest^^ I can imagine her to be with a mare even more because of that and Spitfire is the best choice if you ask me :chuckle::P
I gave Rainbow a short mane cut and even shorter tail, a different coat colour and some markings, that resemble her speed and agility, some markings that make her look closer to her element - the lightning bolt/dashing through the skies. I also followed that example in her cutie mark as it now doesn't have the cloud, still is a lightning bolt in her well known rainbow colours, but they have speed lines instead to show how fast she can get. The wings of that Rainbow Mare have gotten more colourful and fitting to her mane and tail to still keep her somehow feminine while being tougher than her G4 version. I also made her a little taller than Spitfire, trying to make her look more protective and strong to hold her beloved mare whenever she is in danger.
Spitfire is a slim, smaller character than her strong mare friend here. She is even more dynamic, zappier than we know her already and looks a little more free as a whole. The pegasus mare's orange coat got some markings that remind us of flames, fitting to her name and hot, flamey personality. The vibrant red mane resembles the hot fire she can call herself among mares and her seductive part as well. I decided to give her accessoires like sweatbands and cuffs to give her the look of a professional athlete just like her cutie mark represents her agility and maneuverability in the air, being able to pull of the most amazing tricks.
I think I said quite a lot already, but I can tell I had some intentions while working on this piece, that I'm really happy and proud of^^ The process of experimenting around was so enjoyable and I'm pleased with the final result. I'm looking forward for your feedback there!

Alrighty, here we go: A) Yeah, i can believe it would be a little too much for animating a show (for kids maybe even) but it's actually just the way I interprete them in a new Generation 5^^ While I'm certain there won't be a chance for Hasbro to use my designs (lol, why should they? XD) I just had fun with these designs^^ B) Naww thank you^^ It makes me so happy to hear you like this drawing and the things you mentioned in particular :D I feel so honoured^^ (And yes, I love Spitfire's eyes, I HAD to make them look that way <3 ^^) C) Indeed, pegasi might tend to be slimmer and smaller than normal ponies, especially earth ponies (of course, there are exceptions here and there however, we know about that lol) but yeah, in comparison to Rainbow, Spitfire might be a bit smaller. That could make her look a bit cuter as a serious drill sergeant XD I agree on that with you^^ haha, naw the idea is sweet! D) Your kind and lovely words just like your detailed feedbakc truly mean a lot to me. Really. Thank you so so much. I'm so happy you like this piece and the fact I can't resist a challenge ;)

2019-02-17 20:04:47 +0000 UTCA) I think this is too many colors, shades and details for G5 to be achievable. It is obvious that cost is a factor at the creation of the show. The current flash based method is very cost effective. Maybe they will move towards the toonboom direction used in the movie, but I am quite sure such detail you present here Lupi, is not achievable. Well if they achieve it for a weekly show, that would be a revolutionary. :-) B) I love the details, the mane and chest fur, tails are delightful. Love the shading of Spitfire's eyes. Rainbow's hooves are very nice and I always like some colorful accent on the feathers - this details should be adapted in G5 for sure. C) More muscle fits Rainbow, but in my head she is definitely a small mare. I quite like to picture Fluttershy a considerably bigger mare than RD with an obviously longer wing-span and more body mass. RD's jumpy personality fits a smaller frame in my head. I was never thinking about putting Spitfire on this scale, but I can see it might be possible that she has an even smaller frame. This would introduce some more fun in her bossy-yell-y personality, maybe playing a little on the "little guy bossing everyone around" trope. D) Nice job as ever Lupi, glad you do these "competitions".
