Media Studies - Masked Reality

Hello everyone,

it's been a good ride but sadly for now this one is my last entry for the "Media Studies" series and with it I finished my semester task for my subject at art academy.
In this last drawing, I want to show that everyone of us is wearing a mask, putting on a small show to show "who we are" online...and yet, what lies beneath will never be found out.

What people actually think about you, how they act, what they do or what they're into can always be a secret and even though you think to know the person you're chatting with well enough, basically you know the mask. On photos, in posts, we always do that under different circumstances and we may hide secrets that are important for others to know when it comes to a person's character/personality. And yet... is it bad that we don't know everything about the people posting online? You decide.

This drawing is actually the first image when I started this project and it's the one I'm most proud of I can say. We see so many different individuals, always hiding something behind their back and pretending to be someone else, we see contrast and the origin of the style and theme of these drawings.

I'm proud of these 6 images and I want to thank you for your support, encouragement and open words about the messages conveyed. That truly means a lot to me, really. i read through everyone of them and enjoyed the fact that people actually care about the message and what I want to say with these drawings, that people take it a little more serious and think about our daily routine when it comes to social media.
Just thank you

Hope you like this one!

Comments

Heh, I knew nudes etc. were a thing that would show up in the comments. And yet again, we only post what we want people to see. Someone can post a nude, but can you see if this person is depressive? Can you see if it is harrassed IRL or bullied at school? Can you see their true identity in one picture? Just a few questions to consider^^ Actually, important influencers could post things like "I love you people <3" while actually hating their followers and just wanting to gain popularity. But I see your point and I am grateful for you sharing your opinion with me, Taily^^ I appreciate it and I'm glad you like this drawing :)

i think it's what we're collectively comfortable with when we post online, some hide behind their mask or fursona, and some would go as far as posting nudes online ;3 regardless, this is the new norm we create for ourselves considering not all of us are comfy with posting all of our art online for example, but it is what it is, great job Lupi!
