Hello everyone,
I recently looked through my folders of art and found this old A3 image that I never actually showed to you. Since some time has passed since I drew this, I think it's finally time to reveal it to you: A big tradiional black and white carricature of what I think a big city's face would look like.
I called this piece "City Sins" to refer to the citizens as an important yet "harmful" part of the cities that we find all over the world. Angry faces, drug addiction, dirt, hectical passengers, crying children, broken walls, homeless people...hopeless people, all of these things are images I see on a daily basis when going by train and riding the bus of Berlin, all of these "sins" create a sad, frowning face of an old, lonely man that has been working his entire life for nothing to quite enjoy anymore, a tragic fate that I wouldn't like to face myself in the future. I don't want to build a black and white image in my head of a cold, heartless, sometimes aggressive society, yet it's happening more and more often, especially due to crises and catastrophes that we sometimes made up ourself or aren't able to stop/control.
I'd rather imagine my own, colourful bubble to live in, to feel happy with and to... live, not just survive.
These were my inspirations for this piece, I know it's pretty deep in its message, but it came from my heart. Additionally, it took quite a lot of time, planning and effort to make, so I really hope you like it.
Since it's been a bit of time since I finished it, I see some things I would have liked to illustrate a bit more professional, but still it's a drawing that I am proud of.
