:COMM: Beast of the Swamp

This is a long-overdue commission I finished for Hat Vandemoos, who asked me to draw a "bad alternate universe ending" to a scene I already drew a long time ago, precisely in April 2021:

Now this scene shows the commisisoner's dwarf druid character in a much more sinister, dark environment - much more rotten, disgusting and unwelcoming than the magical forest we saw before. Instead of a proud, confident expression, she's looking at us with disgust and disappointment, behind her not a strong and majestic wolf yet a monster, a grotesque, starving Vendigo just waiting to jump its prey. What has it come to?
Well, let me tell you, this commission took me a very VERY long time to create and I hope it shows. The amount of time, care and effort put into creating the environment, the vibe and, especially the characters, can't be put into words - but I LOVED doing it. I know I could have simplified things or leave things out but the whole project was a passionate one for me and I wanted to make it look stunning in the end. I can't just loosely create things without it being somewhat detailed and good enough for my liking. Painting the background was a lot of fun for me and drawing the characters seemed to be taking the longest time. However, I personally think it was worth it and I can be proud of the result. I hope, the commisisoner can be, too.
