A Brief History of Multi-Vehicle Collisions

When I started researching this topic I was absolutely stunned by how many massive multi-vehicle pileups there have been. They're very rare in the UK (where I live), but on some roads in some countries there's at least one chain-reaction mass-collision each year.

Because of rights issues, I wasn't able to include any footage... but I did come across several videos which people caught up in a multi-vehicle collision have captured, and which demonstrate just how strange and terrifying the experience can be.

Here's a particularly interesting one, which shows some drivers managing to stop well in time... and some not. And this video demonstrates just how quickly things can escalate during an incident like this... as well as the very definition of a lucky escape!

Of all the things I might expect while driving (fog, rain, high winds) a sand storm is one that would take me completely by surprise!

Fascinating Horror

The number of vehicles involved in some pileups is just staggering. I can't even imagine a wreck comprised of 300 vehicles!

Fascinating Horror

When I saw the title was "multi-car pile-ups," I admit I was a bit disappointed. But these are HUGE pile-ups! It's terrifying to think something like this could happen where I live... I know you cover a lot of fires, but any chance of covering the Hartford Circus Fire at any point?

I remember that accident in Germany. I was stationed in Bamberg. The Autobahn is actually safe. That sand storm was a huge surprise.
