The I-35W Bridge Failure

During this video, I show a picture of a yellow school bus perched precariously on the edge of a piece of concrete rubble. You can read the full story of that school bus right here.

To summarise, though, it was no doubt a horribly frightening experience... but everyone on the bus survived. 52 children and the 9 adults accompanying them all escaped through a fire exit at the back of the bus, or (in the case of those who were injured) were rescued by emergency workers. The bus driver even helped to carry one child to safety.

While this is overall a pretty tragic story, there are at least a few moments like this where, for some of the people involved, things turned out okay despite the odds.

It's odd (and often quite saddening) how often this exact sequence of events repeats itself!

That's interesting - I suppose it's better than nothing, but it's a long way short of what's needed. I wonder how they'll feel about it as and when another disaster like this happens...

These design flaws and structural integrity issues are only addressed after a catastrophic failure. Much like the Surfside condo collapse in Miami. Now officials are trying to back pedal their way out of responsibility.

The US Congress just passed a huge infrastructure bill. Unfortunately, it’s only enough money for each county in the country to fund one project. I hope that the Senators who cut the funding down to its bare minimum sees your video. It won’t change anything, but maybe constituents will realize the danger they are in and vote the guy out. Your friend Brick Immortar did this story about a year ago. He focused more on the engineering of the bridge. Your videos complement each other well.
