The Catacombs Beneath Paris

I came across plenty of stories about people getting lost or doing strange things in the Paris catacombs while I was researching this short. Here are two that I found quite interesting.
The first is a relatively recent (2017) story about two teens getting lost in the tunnels. Apart from anything else, this story shows just how much of a maze the catacombs are, as it specifies that there are 150 miles (or 250 kilometres) of tunnels under the city. No wonder search dogs were required to find the missing teens in this case
And secondly, there's this story about a raid on a wine cellar where the thieves tunnelled into a basement from an old part of the catacombs. They got clean away with around 300 bottles... which should at least keep them occupied for a while!

I remember the first time I read about this - I find being in a sauna pretty stressful to start with, so it definitely pushed some buttons for me. It's on the list!
