The Failure of the AVCEN Jetpod

If you’re interested in this quirky bit of aviation history, here’s a promo video that I’d recommend giving a watch. It does a good job of explaining the Jetpod concept, and why the craft might be revolutionary.
At the same time, though, it’s hard not to notice that all the imagery of the Jetpod itself is computer generated. Footage of a real prototype is pretty difficult to find, and as far as I can tell there weren’t ever any successful tests. It’s a cool concept, but one that – it appears – never actually took flight.
