An Introduction to Spite Houses

There’s a list of some of the most prominent ones on this Wikipedia page, and I’d greatly recommend giving it a read. It even lists at least one “spite hotel” and, quite surprisingly, a “spite church” that was built in Brooklyn, New York, back in 1907.

It occurred when the Cleveland Indians baseball team (now known as the Cleveland Guardians) decided to sell beer at ten cents per glass during a game. Although attendees were limited to purchasing only six glasses of beer at a time, there was no limit to haw many purchases they could make. As you might expect, that much alcohol being consumed ended rather poorly.
