Interesting video. A few points I'd like to share with fellow observers. 1. Basketball players coming straight from HS to the NBA is fine. Only an owner or scout who doesn't understand the game (which many of them don't) would bestow the hopes of the franchise on a 17yr old. The NBA and its owners need to stop being CHEAP and using the NCAA as a FREE developmental league. Instead invest in the G-League or build stronger ties with leagues overseas (Europe, Australia and China etc.) so that young talent can be loaned out to play in those leagues much like in Soccer. It's a win win for both sides. the NBA gets to continue its tenet of spreading the game of basketball globally. The athlete then gets to grow their brand globally get first hand experience of life as a PRO athlete, learn the PRO game and play against other PROs. 2. The NCAA already has a template to follow on paying players. Which is the D2 model. D1 scholarships are all equal but D2 scholarships aren't. There are Players who earn more scholarship money than fellow teammates or other sports typically based on what was negotiated and or what that athletes ability brings to the table. D1 can utilize that same method in terms of payment of the players. 3. AAU kids/Parents have been getting paid for a LOOOOONG time (I know personally from first hand accounts). the real issue is the NCAA needs to stop with the whole sanctimonious act which has created a BLACK MARKET and demonizes primarily black athletes /families/ coaches/ agents who either give or receive money. instead shed light on what's really going on and see how much these D1 college coaches are really paying to these players (MILLIONS). Check out the Documentary put out by HBO called the "SCHEME" ........btw Football is way worst.

Agreed the age limit should be 21. Too many players coming into the league not understanding how to play basketball.

Lavar Ball was catching hell for doing the same thing but in a different way, the liberal media only calls it racist with Rich Paul because he's connected to Lebron who is just another liberal token asset.

The funny thing is that high school basketball players are not obligated to attend college for any amount of time. They have to be at least one year removed from high school. It seems to me that they want the adulation that comes with being a prime time athlete on campus but to be paid for their services.

No bruh, actually they were. Beyond that, when they use that term "privilege", it's in reference to all players, but it's mostly applied to black players. I have news for you; if you aren't blessed from above and work hard, you'll be replaced in any situation. Thanks for viewing the video

The statement of being in the NFL or the NBA being a privilege is all about context. They weren't speaking from the perspective of all black men. They were speaking as an individual. It is a privilege in that, if you squander it, you can and will be replaced by the next man, because there are a number of players itching to take your spot that aren't in the league.

OK what specifically do you propose? How do you plan on protecting him?

Brandon Jennings went overseas in 2008 instead of going to Arizona on scholarship. I thought that was brilliant and more students would follow. I think the issue is that the players want to change a system that they decided to be apart of. The more reasonable solution would be to skip the NCAA altogether if they feel like they are being exploited. Seems like what Rich Paul advised this young man to do could potentially shift the paradigm of power. The NCAA can’t have that. It’s a brilliant move, tho.

@chroniclesofjudah144 what you said about sex trafficking these athletes is so true. When you have time brotha, read about a cat named Willie Williams. He was probably the greatest High School linebacker to ever come out of Miami FL. He was like the Lebron James in terms of young high school celebrity. Many ppl said that the brotha was going to be the next Lawrence Taylor!!! The brotha talks about on his visit to the various schools, he was allowed to have access to girls that didn't even go to the school. Very unfortunate and sad story.
