Does time exist? Discuss

a quantum haiku? love it! :)

Time and energy, Uncertain dance they perform— Reality blurs.

Since you mentioned time as “perceived” by non human or even non sentient entities, I also wonder about time from the “perspective” of a light ray, in which the flow of time and the stretch of space don’t exist in the conventional sense because of the extreme limits of relativistic contractions. A photon emitted near the Big Bang, traveling for 13.8 billion years, and then absorbed by an atom 5 seconds ago would have “experienced” no time passing, and no distance travelled. Just a cosmic Here and Now in which earliest moments of the universe and five seconds ago are the same. I… I don’t understand 😩.

I've thought about this a lot myself. Time is perception. Humans perceive the passage of time and label it as such. However, our perception is also our blinders to the possibilities of what time means for everything else in the universe. It's the idea that we measure "time" in what we can witness ourselves versus what the rest of reality witnesses. For instance what the stars and planets of the universe have "witnessed" for themselves. Us humans can see an apple rot away on the kitchen table after a few days and it seems to us like a short amount of "time". To the galaxy, that same apple wasn't even a nano second to the "time" it's seen the birth of solar systems and other celestial bodies. In the opposite direction, a small insect would seem to live a short life compared to most mammals on earth. However, how do we know how that same insect perceived it's own life? Maybe it lived a long and full life according to it and mammals are the ancient beings with "life spans" beyond comprehension much like humans versus stars. So "time" in a sense is a human construct but we really don't know if we are only seeing "time" *our* way versus what it potentially could be to the whole universe. Just my opinion :)

is fuzzy logic claiming that the true FACTS of reality, the deep down basic facts of the world, even from the POV of perfect knowledge, cannot be seen as answers to binary yes/no questions? Like, if you were to ask an omniscient being about question X, even they would have to admit, "well, it depends, there's no easy yes-or-no to this question". At first, that's easy to accept if we're just limited to talking about how we imperfectly perceive the world, but if the claim of fuzzy logic is more ambitious and is also talking about the state of the most elementary basic facts themselves, then that's much more unsettling. Makes me feel like floating on quick sand... but maybe it's right ???

No. From the excerpt you read one time, it just seemed like he was over-explaining how "everything is subjective" to people who've never heard of post-modernism. (but I'm sure it's more than that - that was just my reaction to the bit you read)

So interesting, did you read fuzzy logic ?

Or it has all happened, and time is what we call our linear perception of it. Like words in a book or a page - all the words are already there, but we read it one letter, one word "at a time." (pun intended)

You should do a video where you test our pH then balance it for us.

I've seen excerpts, and I really want to see the whole thing. Beyond the cliché celebrity, Einstein is just as amazing as he's famed to be. And adding special & general relativity to the time/energy uncertainty principle makes the reality of traditional objective time even more dubious, because there's no objective notion of simultaneity, no universal NOW. Just change your speed and you perceive a new Present that's different from mine. GAH!!! Then what are we even talking about about when we ask "what Time is it"?!?! Hahaha! This stuff keeps me up at night, and I love it. I love being pleasantly confused, or even mind fucked once in a while. Who wants the world to be boringly obvious anyway? Nah! :)

Thanks :))

I jsut can’t stop thinking about litmus laper now haha

Depends, do you want it pierced? Don’t ask others do it only if you want it !

Jsut finished :) 🙏🏼🙏🏼😭

Did u watch the Einstein series? You reminded me a bit of when he was explaining the lightening on the moving train

Aaahhhh hahaha that was wonderful. I love it

'cause I'm bored and procrastinating... There's a time/energy generalization of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle that bugs the hell out me. Similar to how you can never precisely know both the position and velocity of a particle (the more you zero in on the position the velocity becomes less defined, and vice versa). In the same way, for any quantum process there's a uncertainty relation between the energy of that process and the time of that process. So, say something happens with one of your atoms, doesn't matter what, this is very general. For example, something happens in your normal bio-chemistry. If you find out exactly WHAT happened (the energy), then you have no certainty about WHEN it occurred (the time). However, if you find out exactly WHEN that process happened, then you have no certainty about WHAT the process actually was. If you know the WHAT then you don't know the WHEN, but if you know the WHEN then you don't know the WHAT. So, yes, truly, does time exist? ;)

Wow my brain glitched there for a second. Very cool!

Time just prevents everything from happening at once 😁

Thanks! Now stop procrastinating and get back to editing! (j/k - honestly, if you keep posting these updates, I won't mind if it takes forever for you to finish the video 😜)

humans arent endless ?

of kids describing past lives too very details, things they shouldn't be able to sort of comprehend at such an age

i love these type of stories, gives me shivers, ive heard a few similar

fabulous thought process

looooool

oh pls dont let me stop u, ill referee

i Think time is a meaningless word time is endless but humans aren’t

Time is just the present changing shape

I was reading 'The Science of Fairytales' !1891) by Edwin Harland and he had studied the case of a very young boy in Italy who went missing for several days. Miraculously he was found clean and healthy not far from his home, wearing a strange paper dress and claimed he had spent only a little time playing with some magical small people :)

Oh thank gawd I wouldn’t be alone at The Miss Manganese Seminar on Time , with Kiki as the substitute speaker because Sara took a time loop nap.

Time is just a scam invented to sell watches. (or sun dials back in the day - I blame Big Sun Dial for getting us caught up in this hamster wheel)

edited footage 1:23, length of this vid 1:22 COINCIDENCE???? 🤔🤔🤔⏳⌚⏰⁉️⁉️

😂

(Neil Degrasse Tyson voice) Does Time Exist? 🤔

also, random question, should I get my ear pierced ?

I mean fundamentally no time doesn't exist, it's just a subjective human illusion. But you could go real deep into yes/no answers to this :D

Mike Limitus

Same lol and definitely was prepared to watch it

also Sara, just thought I’d let you know , you look fantabulous ( fantastic & fabulous 😂) xx

time is a concept imo, like why is it the moon comes out at “night” why is nighttime , not morning… Okay clearly the heat is getting to me , I just waffled there but it makes somewhat sense so imma go with it 😂 xx

Is says a lot about Sara’s chaos that I was fully prepared for a deep dive ramble into the nature of Time🤣 Don’t judge me, she could do it. And you all know you’d watch it 😊

omfg for real thank u for remidning me, i shoudl do a filter now before i chop up the vid. THANKYOU

The real question is are we gunna have 30 different filters in this one😜
