Re: your mom, it's not a matter of worthiness - that's the "unconditional" part of unconditional love. You might as well say you don't deserve the sunrise, but you don't - you just feel appreciative of its beauty. Working through feelings of worthiness is a whole other thing, so setting that aside it can be a kindness to accept love that's given, because loving people need an outlet and your mother has so much love to give you. Until you can do it for yourself, embrace it fully for her sake - it's an act of love for her rather than selfishness to do so. Maybe you'll feel less guilty if you think of it that way.
