When I was a kid there was a deep puddle at a construction site at the end of our block. The ice got thick enough to walk on, mostly. But once we could break through we would mix getting soaked to the knees breaking the shoreline ice, with throwing large rocks to reach the center. Depending on how mad Briar is, she may be hurling boulders.
