You just talked up the pressure that the Lakers have to win and it felt like a jixn. I think both LA teams will go ring-less with the current iterations of their teams. Nuggets vs Heat finals...

The whole season I was rooting for the lakers and against the clippers, the clippers haven't done anything but act like they are a dynasty. Even cockier than peak warriors. Kawhi and his uncle's shenanigans (how they scammed lakers etc) made him less likable to me, though he still seems like a decent guy

anyway, did you notice that Dame roasted every Clipper except Kawhi? Dame actually sorta defended him. I actually felt so for Kawhi because that was so uncharacteristic of him. And he actually shot several midranges that kept bricking, and didn't attack Jokic or the rim enough. But as I said, his defense on and off the ball was egregiously disappointing.

Interesting... however these hypotheticals are so shaky becaus of chaos and the butterfly effect. I'm just gonna enjoy the flow (and be depressed by my rockets and Harden's failings) while staying on the miami bandwagon. Butttt, i just want Lebron to lose, I actually like his greatness and some aspects of his personality, but I still think that him and much of the lakers team are fake douchebags. At least Jimmy talks the talk and walks the walk. And bam is becoming one of my fav players.

Yeah the Kobe element is at play, at least with me. I’m rooting for KD but I have no confidence in what is going on over there.

Like I said above, it could definitely backfire and make them stronger.. I could just see LeBron taking way too long of a victory lap in LA and the season going south. Plus Pelinka hasn’t exactly handled FA great.. Bron came in his own, and then bright AD. But I’ve read several negative things about his dealings.

No your right! It could absolutely go the other way! Obviously I think it would hurt them..

No it doesn’t.. we know they don’t need or desire it. It’s a fan prospective rooting for another chip... I think it would help. We know how our guys are wired!

Haha, thank you for the shout! and the lemonade scenario now that it looks like the Lakers are going to steamroll this thing.
However, I can never root for LePhony.
But I think the Lakers will only be stronger next year if they win. It will be way easier to recruit FAs on the cheap (that the Ws are competing for) and they'll have another year of chemistry. It'll actually take the load of AD and LJ. Best case if they fail, things blow up, and Dray retires w more rings than LJ. FAs will gravitate towards Giannis etc

We have big feels about this one lol. Imma push back on you here tho alch:
1 if lakers lose in an upset are we even sure ad returns to la...?
2 if lakers win in current outfit where most likely LeBron is finals MVP, are we sure ad isn't hungrier to try to outdo or fill the big papa shoes in 20-21,2? Looking more like nola ad?

I think an unintended consequence of LeBron winning his 4th would be creating another monster over in Brooklyn (Kevin Durant). I mean think about it, outside of Steph and the Warriors who else has a personal rivalry with LeBron. Plus in my opinion no matter what happens both LeBron's and Steph's legacies are kind of already set meaning anything more they add would essentially be cherries on top. But you cant say that about Kevin Durant. If he retired and only had 2 warrior championships I don't think he would be held in the same regard as LeBron or Steph. He'd likely be the most motivated to get his 3rd and if we manage to come out of the West in the next year or so, then we'll have to see him.
But with all that being said i wouldn't be mad if the Lakers won just for Kobe (and Gianna) only.

This really is the perfect mindset for dubs fans. Cause now, if the Lakers win, then that's great for all the reasons you mentioned. And if they don't, then that's great, cause LeBron didn't win. It's a can't-lose situation

Interesting take, but I don't think it's strong enough for me to actively root for them. I don't mind getting all the smoke with the Lakers though - it's not like all the hype with the Battle of LA this year, you know that Dubs culture will be a force going against the Lakers. Someone else brought this up but as a Bay Area guy that's seen my other teams (Sharks, Raiders) have rivalries with SoCal I can't really bring myself to do it. Still a good life lesson though, Godfather style: "Don't hate your enemies, it clouds your judgement."

I hate that everybody forgets the fact that Iggy was out after game four. A game which the Warriors beat the Rockets by over 40 points. The Warriors had them figured out and dead to rights. The next two games the Rockets won was by a combined seven points I believe. Just scraping by the warriors. And in doing so they have no legs left for game seven. That’s why they missed all of those three pointers. It’s crazy.

The theory implies, that the Dubs need or desire the easiest route to the title, and should fear a desperate 36 year led Lebron team looking for his final championship.
Legacy wise, I’d argue the opposite. As rivals, Curry, Klay, and Dray wanna put the nail in the coffin. Get their 4th at the King’s expense, not only getting their 4th ring, but surpassing the self-proclaimed GOAT in titles in his last chance at the throne.

Alch, I bounced this off you previously but I hold fast that LeBron pulled a punk move that got Draymond suspended in 2016. While I find LBJ's 'linebacker' style of play aesthetically displeasing, he is definitely a force. And Rondo? My only hope was for him to go up against PBev and more fisticuffs. Finally, screw the Lakers!

Aye i know this is off topic but did you see Steve Nash on The old man & the Three (JJ Redick pod) say Houston almost beating us in 2018 was a better accomplishment then us winning the championship? Wild but my question is why does Houston get so much undeserved credit?

I just currently love the Heat and Celtics too much to root for the Lakers. I can't do it man, I mean I see your points, but let's be real the media and history isn't going to be affected by AD and Lebron's drive. That's the biggest reason why I can't root for them, Lebron has too much control on the media cause they know they have to milk him out while they can. And that's not to mention the fact that this is all under a bubble condition. If the Lakers win, the media is gonna blow this up and say Lebron is the GOAT by winning it all through the pandemic and honoring Kobe(RIP mamba). Hate to bring up Kobe, but it's going to be a part of the narrative that's going to be pushed. But that's the irritating thing too. If Lebron loses, they're going to ignore the honoring Kobe narrative entirely and use the bubble as an excuse as to why he lost. There's no winning against mainstream media either way it's going to work out positively for Lebron, just one will be moreso than the other. So if that's the case no way am I gonna root for Lebron to have more rings than Curry and our core 3. I'm still pissed that they constantly bring up "Lebron's greatness" in 2015 and discredit our 2015 ring because his team was injured. And those same people are boosting Kawhi's legacy for the 2019 championship when if you think about it it's pretty much pretty similar to our 2015 ring and team. Our 2015 Warriors and the 2019 Raptors both had a deep team with an MVP caliber player going against a depleted and injury ridden team lead by one of the greatest of all time players(Curry in 2019 and Lebron in 2015) trying to carry his team to the championship and coming short. Yet Curry is discredited again while Lebron gets praises for being in the same situation? Fuck that man, I can't root for Lebron when the media does it enough for the whole world and then some. If the Nuggets don't beat them, I can't wait for Butler and Bam to clamp up Bron and AD.

LeBron pulled off arguably the biggest choke in nba history in 2011,got swept twice in the finals and has a 3-9 record, yet people incessantly push him for goat. Him losing to Steph again won't do much for our cause, specially when he's already older and they can just bring up the 3-1 card, 2015 finals and that we "needed KD and 3 superstars just to beat one man"
We need more rings than him, and even that may not be enough to shut up his fans and media lol

Root for LeBron, AD and Danny Green!? Fck that sht man! 😂 I'll never root for teams that bought their way to success.
Whether the Lakers win or not they ain't doing sht next season, LeBron is looking like a monster because he had his break before the bubble, but during regular season he wasn't looking too hot, next year they'll a 100% be worse, due to age and cap space.
Our chances to win another ring have nothing to do win LeBron, Curry still has the fire to win his FMVP and you better believe Green wants to prove we never needed KD. Next year GSW vs Nets finals baby, book it!

I think you left out possibly the biggest reason Warriors fans should root for the Lakers to win it. Should the Warriors win it next season and go through the Lakers on the way, it would help sell the narrative that LeBron could only win when it wasn't against Steph. Still going to be rooting for anyone but the Lakers, tho.

I like your points and I'll agree since some can't get past the Lebron hate. If Lebron wins this season, they certainly aren't going to be as hungry next season. ESPECIALLY if they try to run it back idk if they have the legs with all their older vets. The KD Warriors was arguably the smallest Ego superteam you could form and even they had turbulence. If Lebron ever wins another I rather it not be against Steph so this is the best season for it to happen. And if moving forward, Steph can deny Lebron any chances of another Finals appearance, I think that would help his and the Warriors legacy.

(I haven't watch the vid yet but had to comment... ...Ok watched the vid, the point is complete solid, and like I said, I like LeBron. It's just: fuck the Lakers. No way I'm rooting for them. BUT, if they do take it all, then we get the benefit of what you're saying anyway, so really it's win-win)
I actually like LeBron. I mean you gotta enjoy GOATs while they are still playing. I hated Barry Bonds while he was playing, but after he retired I feel guilty that I would hate-watch his at bats instead of enjoy how utterly amazing he was (don't care if he was on roids, everyone was). But I think REAL Norcal heads fucking hate Socal. It's just how it is. We're supposed to hate all LA teams just as a matter of Norcal pride. Fuck the Lakers!
Alc is just biased cause he's a few hours East on the 10 from LA!
