USA vs France Gold Medal Game

USA vs France Gold Medal Game

rewatching this an noticed embiid doing his best to end wemby's career at 2:08 lmao

thomas

I think more than catching up, the world has consistent lineups and builds chemistry. That allows the trust for the movement and cutting that you were speaking about. The USA has constantly changing lineups.

Coaches aren't required to be nationals

KD seems like one of the few people who truly does not care about optics. From the good (passing up the last shot), to the bad (demanding a trade), to the weird (clapping back on Twitter) - “what will people say” just doesn’t seem to play into his mind at all. Probably not a bad trait for a shooter to have.

This, no agendas just does what's required whether it's to his glory or not

Steph somehow one upped his Serbia performance. He really hears everything “don’t worry about me” he knows everyone was wondering what was up with him 😂 kinda dope Steph got his moment bc I see a looooot of Steph top 5 takes on my timeline and you just wouldn’t get this appreciation from the rest of nba fandom if it wasn’t for the international stage of the Olympics. Btw I’m young but greatest Olympics of all time? Def the greatest I’ve remembered all around, too many stories to count

Luke Zhang

I love KD, man. He just knows ball.

yan't get right

It's too bad this moment isn't going to help Steph sell more shoes

Jimmy Ji

I was wondering too

Shi Cheng

Whereas Serbia was just one of the best basketball games of all time, this was just another all-time basketball moment. Those three guys, winning together and celebrating was something really special.

John Pettus

finally got a chance to watch your coverage of these games. So good, per usual. Thanks alc

Dan Moore

I wasn't able to watch the Serbia game live. But I caught part of the 3rd Ave the whole 4th quarter of this. Not much left to say about the Chef that hasn't been said, so here's something redundant: he changed the game, he is a living legend, and he's an absolute joy to watch. And it's pretty special that neutral fans & Warriors haters got to experience what it's like to root for him this time

Karim Q

The final 60 seconds of this one gave me chills. Awesome commentary, Alch!!

Bobby D

Side note, was Kenny Atkinson French this whole time???? That was weird?

Allison Hendrix

It’s going to be a cold day when the light of Stephen Curry no longer shines on the court. I’m so glad I’ve got to be here for his time

So blessed we got one more insane steph moment before our next few up in the air warriors seasons. I think he’s still got one Steph Carry left for the playoffs if the team around him can get him there

Abhi Kelkar

Great analysis Alc. That was a game for the ages. I saw Grant Hill's strategy in bringing the younger guys in even if they didn't play much. He needed to get them hyped for LA. Two things: I'd been thinking that Steph missed his wife and kids. Sure enough she showed up with their newborn, his mom, his brother and sister and their spouses and he had 2 amazing games. (Remember, they've been on the road since July?) Secondly, I felt that Steph had to adjust to the shorter 3pt line and the difference in the FIBA ball. He's spent a lifetime perfecting his mechanicals with the NBA ball and 3pt line. P.s. that was the legendary Stephon Marbury sitting next to Melo & Kiyan.

Strong Foru

What an effing show people!

Mikey H

Didn’t even realize that KD overlooked Bron completely for that last 3 by Curry 🤣

Sarcasm 360

Definitely alot of stuff kerr should use after coaching this olympics but won’t do 😂. That potential kuminga curry p & r could be lethal. Also using some of the team play shown by serbia and france. Don’t ever see euro ball so it was cool to see what happening over the Atlantic. Couldn’t have asked for a better showing by the big 3 and younger guys, this will only get bigger as time goes on like you said. Seeing Lebron and curry was awesome but seeing just how lethal KD and curry still are together was priceless. Two of the most unguardable players of all time. Definitely grateful for their era together. Also Lebron a freak for doing what he doing at 39 we most definitely take it for granted. Hopefully curry finds his way to one more chip with the warriors or sadly without.

hugojimcam

Man, storybook ending right there. Glad you pointed out that KD wanted to let Steph cook. When he put up that shot over the double, I thought "no way" and it went down and that just encapsulates his career. He's not just the GOAT shooter, he's one of the GOATs period.

Crimson

Seeing how happy KD was playing with Steph again, you know part of him is thinking about the bay area.

Omer Ali

Man, let's all appreciate greatness while it's here. In the present. Happy to be a dubs and Steph fan for life.

Andrew Lee

I doubt it

Andrew Lee

Happy to see Steph finally get an Olympic Gold Medal 🥇. I agree with what you said in the opening about how not only has the world caught up (at least the top teams like Serbia, Germany France, and Canada), but also how USA player development has been compromised due to club & AAU emphasizing individual skill over team building. Meanwhile, other countries have done the opposite where they develop players with the emphasis being on playing together as a team, every player knowing their role and playing better than the sum of their parts. Once they eventually discover a star of their own to build around (Jokic for Serbia, Luka for Slovenia, Wemby for France), it makes them even more difficult to stop due to their chemistry, akin to the Dubs' Strength in Numbers and the 2013-14 Spurs title team. It'll be interesting to see how the 2027 World Cup in Qatar and 2028 Olympics in LA turn out and how Team USA fills out the roster with no LeBron, KD or Steph. I still expect them to be favorites, but it's not going to be easy going forward. Btw off topic, but at 5:42, I didn't realize it was Stephon Marbury sitting next to Melo's son until I saw a clip of him on Twitter doing play by play on that last Steph 3.

Nick Elliston

These moments always bring a small tear to the eye because as I've said many times we will never see anything like this again... Like HIM again. I implore fans to take in these games and enjoy his moments rather than constantly being thirsty for the next move or trying to "maximize his prime." That's over. Enjoy the battles against LeBron, KD and the other greats of the era and appreciate his game and gift to the world and to warriors fans. I'm proud to have been a observer of it all and to remind the future generations there is only one, Wardell Stephen Curry! 💙💛 And lastly I appreciate Alchemy for documenting and breaking it down for us. Much respect brother keep doing your thing! 👊🏾

Nos Dollas

The most entertaining player of all time, and he's played for our team his entire career. You can't ask for more than this as a sports fan, just so thankful

thomas

I joked to my brother that the best post-credits scene to this Avengers movie of a game would be Steph and LeBron learning how to spin a ball on their finger on the flight home.

Neal X

Lol at them letting the flags touch the ground

Nathan Glanzer

When I saw embiid standing over rudy like that.. I turned to my girl and asked her if she’d lose respect fot me if I just sat there and let it happen? She said yes. Rudy is insane

Offtopic K

Whose mans is this?

Ken

Anybody else get startled seeing Kenny Atkinson on the France coaching bench like a hidden double agent? 😂

benji lenett

draymond traveling across the world just to see Rudy lose the gold medal game and somehow ending up in the photo of steph doing the night night is the most draymond thing ever

Slurpy

Had to screenshot that freeze frame of Wemby, literally looks like his arm is from a horror movie 😂

David Katz

That last 3 minutes may be 3 of my favorite minutes of basketball next to game 4 Steph and the Bang Bang OT

Murugu Venkat

For last 2.5 mins video froze

Aniruddha Singh

Cool little detail at 13:03 Steph recognizes immediately when bam gets trapped and when the ball gets swung to Jrue, he runs to the deep corner to drag batum away (no way he's leaving steph open) so that Bron gets that dunk. All created by really quick recognition and basketball IQ

Billy Roberson

After the greatest game ever against Serbia, Steph just casually goes and cements one of the greatest MOMENTS ever in basketball history. The game itself was intense and fun to watch. But it wasn't like the Serbia game. Credit to France. They played amazing. But when the Chef starts cooking, theres nothing you can do. Watching this live was surreal. What a goddamn magical moment this was. Its so sad to know this is probably the last time we will ever see these three greats play together.

Jansen E

Was about to lay down rest my head then the 🐐 dropped a banger and now I’m wide awake

Justus Burns

I think curry going to leave the warriors for a contender, considering Klay left and winning gold with Lebron and Kd this summer

Shuab Mohamed

What?

Jansen E

Ain’t no way steph staying a warrior anymore. I’ve always thought he’d retire in San Fran. But get that feeling of winning again alongside these stars. He’s gonna join Phoenix or some shit and tbh I wouldn’t mind. I miss watching curry in high stake games
