In all seriousness though these guys’ collective IQs will have to improve bc that’s what won the gold with Steph, Bron, and KD not just their talent

The biggest difference is that the US sends an all-Star squad, while everyone else sends coherent teams. We don’t send our best role players and it shows. (This year’s team lucked out because Booker way over-performed as a glue guy). Therefore, I think the decision to go with Derrick White over Jaylen Brown (and the benching of Tatum) is the best indicator for Team USA’s future. If Grant Hill, Kerr et al are making the team less of a popularity contest and more of a practical selection of the best *team* (stars and role players) - then the US will be dominant for years to come.

2024-08-18 01:04:13 +0000 UTCI have to be honest, when looking at how the other international teams are coming up, and how deep the US with GENERATIONAL talent had to dig to come out on top, we may look back on 2024 Paris as the high water mark of US dominance in the sport. It may be the end of the era where we think of the USA as default favorites to win gold.
